how l passes nclex as a foreign graduate

Published

hi y'all, l just want to share a little bit of my story how l passed nclex on the first try as a foreign nurse.

first, before l started with anything , l committed everything to the LORD Almighty's hand cos without him its impossible to do anything, and moreover all good thing comes from the lord whether one acknowledges it or not. l prayed constantly almost every day for the lord to help me to pass.

secondly, l committed myself studying little bit everyday;l couldn't commit myself studying long hours a day , but at least l try to do my best everyday, and not to forget the fact that l was a wife and a mother as well.

thirdly, these were the resources l used in studying: hurst review, saunders 5th edition, lacharity prioritization and delegation and lastly feuer audio review. l used them concurrently but carefully in such a way l do not get confuse,

hurst is a good resource l will recommend to everyone preparing to take the nclex. marlene took her time to explain all the medical conditions so well and also made it easy to remember and understand. she was the last l listen to on the morning of my nclex as l randomly picked any of her topics, and trust me, l never regretted doing that.

saunders to me is more closer to the nclex questions, cos l realised that the nclex questions are straight forward just as saunders. l strongly recommend this review.

Thirdly, is lacharity prioritization and delegation. After going through the book and studying the concept l became confident in answering SATA questions;trust me the ones you see on the nclex are less difficult than the ones in the book, but its just a 'toff' way of preparing you.

feuer, is kind of a more detailed classroom teaching lectures, that l will also recommend to those even in school; everything the lecturers explained were in-dept and very good. By listening to her review, l was able to answer the last question which was question 78 and my computer went blue, but though the last question was confusing l was able to choose the correct answer cos it was explained in feuer's review.

This is how l used the resources: after studying hurst review, i then do saunder's questions and answers. l aso found a seperate time to master the lachaarity book; then during my leasure time and times i used in cooking and doing other house chores, l then pluck earpiece in my ears to listen to feuer review.l love to listen so l always took advantage of that, and trust me it worked for me. l barely hard time for things that will not bebefit my studies.

last but not the least is constant practice, and u will realise that those who set the nclex questions has the same format and you will be able to answer their qustions. mat the good lord l serve help you pass your exams in Jesus name.

hope you find these helpful.

Hi,

I am so happy for you that you passes. I failed twice. I am a foreign nurse.

I have Feuer, La-Chality, Saunders, Hurst and kaplan. according to what you said I have everything, but what I do not have is a a consistency and discipline. I have two young kids and I find it hard to find big enough chunks of time.

Can you, please, edvise me how to merge my materials to study. all of the above are in different order and do I follow Kaplan order, or Saunder;s order. I always jump from one book to the other and it is hard to have a content in the right order. do you suggest that I only do let's say Feuer and finish it, and then start other one, or I should do by topic and review the topic from all the different saurces.

Thank you very much

Hi Gena, I too failed (3 times though), i do believe my problem is lack of commitment and i am a big procrastinator. I think if i had someone else to help motivate me i could do better. So i heard about this nursing community and that i could find good motivation here.So i just signed up today. We could link up by email and/ or skype to come up with a study schedule that we can stick to and review with each other maybe once or twice a week. We could also do questions in the books and go over rationales together so we can learn our strengths and weaknesses. I do better with talking things out with others, like my teachers use to say if you can talk it.... u know it!! Well at least thats what worked for me in nursing school.

Please let me know if this is something you would like to do??? I apologize if i am being too forward.

God is good all the time! CONGRATULATIONS!
