Is anyone applying for Fall 2016? Has anyone here attended the information session for Fall 2016 applicants? If so, can you provide some details as to what is was about. I was not able to attend.
Congrats!! Wow Calstate LA SON is so hard to get into.. I applied but got rejected they said I could get in if I change my major to Nutritional Science.. I also have 90 points with A's in anatomy, physio, and Micro but still got rejected so you must have been doing something right!!Congrats again And Good Luck!!☺ï¸
What points did u total for csula? If u don't mind sharing. Because I got rejected but I called them because I had 25 points and students with 24 points got admitted. So it didn't make sense to me. They cleared things up and admitted me.
Thank you :)
Wow good thing u called!! So if I'm doing the math right I would've had 24 points but I believe the reason why they didn't is because I needed one more classí ½í¸”.. Oh well I could've also applied for spring 2016 but I want to start a nursing program in the fall already so I'm good☺ï¸
Hey guys I just wrapped up my first semester with LAC and I wanted to tell you guys that the school is amazing thus far. I've been a part of this board for the past year or so looking, posting, trying to get into a nursing school and decide on a nursing school. You will not regret going to this school. They have a reputation for being a tough school, but an A is very attainable. The instructors are available whenever you have a question and are willing to work with students. If there is a question on an exam that isn't clear they are not afraid to remove it and give full credit for it. My clinical instructor was amazing. So knowledgeable, available, approachable and stern only when she had to be.
If you have any questions feel free to post on here or PM me. Good luck to you guys!!
I just heard back from CSULA SON, so I will be accepting that offer and giving up my spot here at LA county if I get admitted.Goodluck to everyone :)
Sad to hear that. I too got accepted into csula but gave up my spot and applied to county. Best decision I've ever made. If you want clinical experience, a BSN program will not give you much. Congrats tho
I heard that in order to get into the collaboration program you must have completed all the general education classes as well as maintain a high gpa. And that you do some courses at CalState LA during the summer/. and once you complete the RN program it takes another year to complete the BSN program. Is this info correct?
If you start in a spring semester the collab program will be at a disadvantage. You start the collab the summer after your second semester of school and if you start in the spring you will be starting the collab program before 4th and then 6 months after you're finished would be the second summer and then a year after.
and it is correct you need all pre reqs done. Actually not that many people really apply for the collab program.... At least not in my semester anyways so there is a good chance of getting accepted into it as long as you meet the requirements

Congrats on passing 1st semester!!! If you
Enjoyed 1st, wait until 2nd :)
I am going into 4th and I have nothing but raves about county.
I don't have much information on the collab program because CSULA never came to speak with us about it. I'm not sure if it was even available for us this semester. My clinical instructor told me that we would have to go to CSULA classes during two summers and then it takes a year after you graduate. I was told the cost is about $23,000. Several instructors said that many students are burned out after summer and don't always do so well in the fall when they return. I've seen many RN-BSN programs that are offered from several schools that take a year to complete and cost less. It may not be a great idea for the tuition deferment because you would have to get hired within 1 year of graduation. For those that are unfamiliar with LAC's tuition deferment...tuition is $2400 each semester and if you sign up for the tuition deferment you only pay $700 up front per semester. If you get hired by any LAC Department of Health Services agency within 1 year or graduation your debt is forgiven gradually over 2 (or 3, I forgot) years. If you do the collab then you would be a full time student and working full time.
Awesome! updates you all. I look forward to acceptance letters being sent out. I've already accepted at Glendale Community College though. Can anybody compare the two schools? I hear GCC and LAC are both great programs. I live 10-13 minutes away from GCC.
I don't have much information on GCC. If you have any specific questions about LAC I would be happy to answer them.
