I am not yet a nurse or for that matter a nursing student, but I wanted to give you Nurse a pat on the back for helping out these student nurses so willingly. It is a big help to them I am sure and it is so nice of you. It ease their minds and mine as well to know that when help is needed we will ne able to find it so THANK YOU to all of you who have volunteered your help!!!!!!

I want this to stay on front for a day or two!

Awwwww Robin.....how sweet of you, my dear sister. :kiss

(((((((Robin)))))))) You deserved that hug for your kind words to those of us who are already practicing in the field and reaching out to help the nursing students on board here, and at their jobs. :balloons: :nurse:

Robin, I've been mentoring students and "newbies" for several years and find that it gives me new outlooks on nursing and makes me feel younger too. I strongly encourage each and every one of the "seasoned" nurses to get involved with this type of activity. We can change the image of nursing from "eating our young" to nuturing and encouraging them. Just imagine how strong we can be if all of us did this!

keep that in mind when I am in Nursing school and really start hitting you guys up...cause "I" ask LOTS of questions,LOL!!!!!!

Awesome thread robin...i totally agree. I'm a first year student and all the nurses that i have met have been super helpful!!

thanks

Your Welcome guys.........there are many students who can use a kind word or just a pat so thanks!

Great thread....

UGH!!! Why do they insist on making some nursing programs CRAP... We had our second test in nursing 2, and 15 out of 25 students failed it... And I was one of them....

They teach us one way in one then change it when you get into two.. Suddenly everything they tought you was wrong....

Sorry.. I know this wasn't the thread to complain!!

robin, great thread! thanks to each of you! :kiss

I really enjoy helping out nursing students and new nurses. For one, it helps keep me on my toes about all the new stuff. I try and stay as current as possible, but sometimes it is just plain difficult. The students can give me an update on what is the latest in nursing. :D I even learn things from them! To me, nursing is an ongoing, everchanging profession. Of course some things in nursing will always be the same, such as good patient care, dignity for patients, etc. Modern medicine is changing so fast it is hard to keep pace. Thanks for the great thread. :kiss

And not just students need a kind word or just a pat of thanks! Sometimes it seems that we work our butts off and nobody notices; then comes a simple smile or word of thanks and your whole outlook changes! I had that happen this morning as I was leaving work!:D
