Kinsa

Have any of you heard of/participated in the Kinsa FLUency program?

My principal is asking me about it, but I have a lot of questions that the website does not seem to have answers to. Looking for any insight.

Thanks!

I think we have a brand a blender called Kinsa. Otherwise, that's my extent of Kinsa knowledge. Let us know what you find out.

No clue, but am following for more knowledge! :)

Smart Stick Thermometer | Kinsa

I did this program myself. Basically you can nominate your school and if they approve you, your school is eligible for free thermometers. All you have to do is get parents to sign up for the app. My AP and I did all this and we got more than 115 people, including staff who signed up for it. I highly recommend it.

Parents can send you information about their kids and they also receive info from the app itself on what to do for fevers and things like that. You can also inform parents of things on the app too.

My concern, and correct me if I am wrong, is that parents can see how many kids are out in their child's grade, and for what. (Not who). I know, given my school community, that will result in a million phone calls to me asking questions and requesting checks of the whole class for various things.

They can't see on what grade or for what. Just that this amount of children have been sick with these symptoms and just keep a look out for that.

Example: My child is 10 yrs old, she came down with headaches and nasal congestion. I take her temp, put the symptoms and that's that. The rest of the members can see that these are the symptoms that are high right now but not what grade.

Edit: Sorry I mean they can see what symptoms for what grade, but not how many are out, just symptoms.

The first picture of the app on their website shows an example that reads

"3rd grade, 37 kids

10 kids sick in the last 7 days

4 with common cold

3 with flu"

Can the parent not see that part? Because it is also shown again under a section titled, "What's going around? Parents learn what's circulating in their child's grade..."

Seriously, that is what I am thinking! Especially the second a parent sees there is a kid with lice...

THIS.

Seriously, I feel like this would just cause more drama. I looked into this product when someone sent it my way. I was like nope, nope, nope.

That would be too much work to keep up with - LOL.....plus all the phone calls I would get from parents wanting details and what I/principal/school/district is going to do about all the reported illness, not to mention all the chit chat that will happen on the neighborhood FB pages - No thanks

Not in the app. It only shows symptoms and what grade are these symptoms are. I can even take a screenshot. That's weird.
