As if I haven't dealt with enough health issues this year already...........I had a CT scan yesterday which showed several areas of calcification, one of which is 12mm, another 10mm and the one in the other kidney is 9mm.
I'd had some gross hematuria when I was in the hospital last month, which both my MD and I thought was related to the Fragmin he put me on; however, he also thought it a good idea to follow up with my urologist since I'd had some intermittent flank and groin pain and brown urine (TMI, I know :chair: ) so I did. Sure enough, I've got stones again, and I know what that means: another laser lithotripsy, complete with stents and lots & lots of pain.
~sigh~
I'm NOT looking forward to this. When I had the stents in, everytime I went to the bathroom it felt like twin blowtorches blowing full force up my back. I ate Vicodin like candy, spent days on the couch in a total daze, and it STILL hurt like a b****. I finally had to get them taken out after a week of agony and nonstop bleeding.........I missed almost 2 weeks of work, felt like something the cat dragged in for several more, and generally didn't snap back like I expected. And now I've got even BIGGER stones than I did the last time..........good Lord, when does it stop??!!

I am sorry to hear that you have stones and are in so much pain. Though I haven't had a TERRIBLE amount of trouble with kidney stones, I have had them and I know that they aren't fun. Feel better soon!! :icon_hug:

Poor you
If your having repeated kidney stones have they been analysed to find out what they are made of so that you can adjust your diet etc accordingly.

Marla, I'm so sorry to read that you've got yet another medical problem - I'm starting to suspect that Aescepulus (the god of healing) has lost your address.
I'm sending you good wishes and hopes that this is the absolutely last thing to go wrong. :kiss

I'm sorry that you are having so many problems w/ them. Our urologist says that drinking cranberry juice and lemonade tend to change the ph and lessen the freuqency of having stones.

I can empathisize; I've had 7 already. And, after about 5 years of this going on, my doctor decided to check my parathyroid. Guess what? The gland which should normally be the size of a pencil eraser was the size of a marble! After he removed it, he told me it was the largest one he's ever done. And, from the bruising post-op, I could believe it!
If they haven't done a parathyroid scan yet, request one! I've been stone free since.
