Kicked out of nursing school. Now what?!

Published

I was recently dismissed from the adn program at my cc for falsifying information during my first clinical. It has been devastating for me. I would still like to pursue the healthcare field, but not sure where to begin. Anyone have any suggestions on what might be another medical field. I have a bachelor's degree and have taken a lot of science pre-reqs. Thanks!

I can respect that, no need to continue this argument. So where did you find the violin guy exactly? He isn't anywhere I see on this site.

My roommate was in a Radiology program and got kicked out as well for "falsifying a medical document" - this "document" was a time sheet for her clinicals... she was 20 min late for clinical and instead of writing 7:20am she put 7:00am. Now is this right? absolutely not!!! but she got kicked out of school. and after an appeals process she was allowed back in after a year. I think she should have gotten written up and been put on probation for the remainder of her program. (she was one semester from graduating) I feel this should be handled on a case by case basis.

It does seem harsh doesn't it? However, if you do something like that at your place of employment, you can be arrested and convicted of: Ghost Employment and Theft, along with falsifying records. All of which are felony charges. It's good your friend learned the lesson in school rather than at work! It's a serious thing and not taken lightly.

The OP's issue is far more serious than the usual reasons for being dropped from a program (low grades, absenteeism, etc) because it is an indicator of a conscious decision to make a fraudulent clinical documentation entry. This action exposed both the clinical site & school to 'splashback' liability associated from noncompliance with Federal laws. Implications are potentially huge. When a school obtained knowledge that this act was committed, they had no choice but to expell the student. Likewise, the hospital could not do anything else but bar that student from their facility.. if it had been a licensed clinician, they would have had to pursue legal action & report him/her to the licensing board.

I know may seem dismal, but the most accurate indicator of future behavior is past behavior, especially when the behavior is due to the individual's value system (honesty, integrity, level of effort, etc) rather than simply a lack of knowledge or awareness. Problems associated with the latter are open to remediation, but it's very difficult to change anyone's character. It's sad, but some decisions are not 'fixable' and consequences are unavoidable.

Is there any possibility that the OP falsified the info in ignorance? Was it necessarily willful?

I'm on neither side. Just tossing that out.

If OP didn't want to get crucified, then OP should have provided a lot more information than just "I got kicked out for falsifying medical information." Users can only take the OP at her word. If it was that clear cut and the OP wanted help, then the OP should have at least shown some remorse.

Honestly I find it hard to believe one incident would result in dismissal. I really do think it was more than once or there were other things going on.

I have also wondered if this is a troll post to be honest. The OP has never posted before or since.
