I was recently dismissed from the adn program at my cc for falsifying information during my first clinical. It has been devastating for me. I would still like to pursue the healthcare field, but not sure where to begin. Anyone have any suggestions on what might be another medical field. I have a bachelor's degree and have taken a lot of science pre-reqs. Thanks!
Nor was I. :vlin:I gave an opinion. You are free, of course, to disagree with it.
I do disagree with the way you continued to shove her mistake down her throat. I also believe that she will have a hard time trying to recover from this serious mistake. She has a ton of soul searching to do, and a bunch of leg work ahead of her in order to gain entry into any other school, but it is not as impossible as you made it seem. We can agree to disagree.
I too love the violin player.. although I do not see where he was needed, I guess we do not have the same sense of humor either.

Sorry...I guess I was being really simple-minded. It did not occur to me that the volin player had a meaning. I was more like, "where did you find that...it's the coolest one I have seen on the site besides the group of superhero dancers
I think we all agree on the topic. Some of us expressed our opnions using different approaches, but overall we all know the OP will have an uphill battle in getting into another program. I valued everyone's input. I think each one of you brought something of value to the discussion. I think it is for this reason that I find AllNures such a great site!
I agree. I would get a copy of your transcript. Take a look at it and see if the school has made a statement about expelling you. I think you will find it increasingly difficult to get accepted into another program, but not impossible. As much as I hate to admit this, the majority of the for-profit schools will overlook your indiscretion providing you submit evidence that you learned from the mistake and that it will never happen again.I know there are nurses on the floor who chart that they did their hourly rounding when in fact it wasn’t done. This too is falsifying documentation. Should we start firing all of them??? I am not saying it is right. I don’t do it in fear of something happening to one of my patients and me not catching it during the hourly rounding. I don’t support the other nurses decision, but I also will not crucify them.
i wonder to what extent the OP falsified information. obviously to falsify any info on medical records is wrong, but i too have seen nurses fill out the entire shifts rounding sheets before 0800, and although its still wrong, i dont equate it to say, falsifying vitals that were never taken.
either way people make mistakes. im sorry you had to learn your lesson the hard way. i dont think it is impossible to get into another program, but it wont be easy. if your transcript doesnt say anything about you being kicked out and merely says that you took so-and-so course and didnt complete it, you could always lie and say you dropped out for other reasons.. but then i would say you have not learned your lesson.. soo, dont do that. hah.
ps - i also love the violin player.. now i need to find a post to use it in. lol
I am not "shoving it down his/her throat". I don't think encouraging the OP to apply and hope for admission to other programs and making like it is no big deal will be doing the OP any favors when he/she obviously is going to need to decide where to go from here. Sometimes it is not a kindness to gloss things over. There are different degrees of reasons for getting kicked out. This is about as major as it gets. You are misinterpreting my posts for being derisive. I prefer to think of them as honest and realistic...which in this case is more kind than patting them on the head and saying "Don't worry, it is only one mistake". Honestly I find it hard to believe that falsifying a respirations count or something minor would result in getting kicked out. There is probably more to this story.

I am not misinterpreting anything. You call it "honest and realistic" which it clearly was not. You do not have the authority to say that she will never be able to enter any school because of her actions. Your statement "No nursing school will take you with dishonesty/falsifying a medical document in your history. I would think no medical oriented school would frankly, not just nursing." did just exactly that. What honesty would be in this situation, is saying.. wow you really screwed up, and it will be an uphill battle.. not deducing it to being next to impossible.
BTW: I thought we agreed to disagree??
