Hi all, I just want to know if anyone has done the RN program at Keiser University? Just want to know how is that school... is it worth going there? Just want feed back on it.:D

Good Day:

I went to Keiser in Sarasota Florida for one semester then tranfserred to another school. I found some of the teaching staff to be less than professional. One of the teachers only had an associates degree and taught us about lap dancing. I would talk to other students that are currently attending your local school to see how they feel.

Best wishes in your future endeavors.

Ruth Ann

wow! that is terrible that the teacher would teach or even talk about lap dancing in a nursing school class.

For me, Keiser contacted me a few times about their program back in the day when I was looking for nursing schools. I am not rich, so the $35k for the AS program did not fit my needs.......... indeed I would pay that much for Nova though where I would get a BSN, but any who.

I decided to wait in the BCC wait list, and it worked out for me very well, got financial aid, and ended up paying for books only:nurse:.

But, I'm sure that not all Keiser teacher's are like that. Some teachers actually do care and teach well. And even though Keiser is expensive, it really does give other people a chance, those who don't get accepted to MDC, or FIU-------

Check out Daytona State (formerly DBCC) it is the 7th largest nursing program in the country. No waiting list, it is based on GPA. I got in with a 3.1.

Keiser is ok, but in my opinion it is not worth the money, I was accepted to Keiser and transfered out. Why because I attended the JAX campus and the program was not accredited by SACCS until recently. Most schools will not accept the A/P portion of the program, and after they charged me 7000.00 per semester, that was crazy.

I want my RN just as bad as the next person, but I would go for a 4 year degree for that type of money.

So you guys think Keiser is a colossal waste of money? I was thinking about seriously looking into it.. however I don't want to be that deep in debt when I finish school and become an RN. :(

OMG!!!! Are you serious???? I am scheduled to take the NET at Keiser (Orlando) on Wednesday and I was getting all excited about it, but if my degree isn't even transferable, why should I even go there to spend about $38K....I should just wait for a community college...Thank you so much for telling me this because I had no idea!!!!

Actually what is not transferable is if you start your classes, including your nursing classes, and decide to transfer to another school, THOSE classes are not transferable. IF you graduate from Keiser and take classes to get your BSN, Masters, etc... that degree will be accepted at nearly every school. It is SACS and NLN accredited, the later supports National accreditation, something that local community colleges do not all have.

VCC is accredited by NLN.

Thank you for telling me that....I will go ahead and take the NET tomorrow and go from there!!! Please wish me luck!!!!! Thank you for providing me with that info, I feel much better now....

Good Luck Nicki, keep us posted

Well you guys I missed the NET by 1 point!!!! I got a 69, and I needed a 70...:crying2: It sucks, but it did make me realize that I do NOT want to go to Keiser University (Orlando)...Instead of encouraging me to take the NET again, my counselor was trying to get me to consider another field..(Occupational Therapy Assistant)...Can you believe that??? No way, I will take myself and my money elsewhere!!!!

Nikki,

I am sorry you felt discouraged after taking the NET. Some people do really well on them, some don't due to various reasons like stress, can't imagine why (rolls eyes and smiles).

I have to tell you though, I know that people in our class made at or above the low 80s and we are in a class now that ALL the people are struggling.

They absolutely should have encouraged you to retake it, test stress is the worst! I wonder, did you get the NET prep book so that you could see what types of questions, especially math, would be on the test?

Well, wherever you decide to go, good luck, believe in yourself, and LISTEN to your GUT!!!!!
