Keiser University RN Program

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi all, I just want to know if anyone has done the RN program at Keiser University? Just want to know how is that school... is it worth going there? Just want feed back on it.:D

Thank you so much nurz2be!!!

I appreciate the encouragement....I attend Lake Sumter right now and I will continue to do my pre-req's here...I asked if they were going to change over to the TEAS test and they told me that are keeping the HESI entrance test....That's good news for me....I heard the TEAS is extrememly hard.....

Anyway, thanks again!!!

Let me get this straight. Keiser is approved by the Florida Nursing board right? After I get my AS in Nursing from Keiser I am eligible to take the Florida state nursing exam and be an RN. I know that Keiser might not be accredited and I won't be able to transfer my degree to another university, but I couldn't care less. All that I want to be is an RN right now, transferring to another university is not of my interest. Am I right about the Keiser nursing program? I'm interested in going to the fort lauderdale campus if that matters.

thanks,

josh

No Josh, you are correct they are approved by FL BON for the NCLEX, the only problem is that Keiser offers a ASN degree for 38k which is 4 to 5 times the cost for a regular degree, so if a person wants to advance to a BSN, they will not be able to transfer those particular credits for the BSN.

Keiser charging 38k for a ASN RN lisc, which is crazy

Ok, and the keiser ASN program, is there a gpa requirement? Is it that type of institution, or is everybody accepted if you can afford that much damb money?

...

I just checked out the requirements for the Keiser ASN Nursing program and you need a 3.0 gpa in the pre reqs to get into the nursing program. I called Broward College and said that the lowest GPA that they accepted last semester was a 3.1 in the pre reqs. Why the hell would anybody go to Keiser? You would have to be an idiot :)

My point of view exactly, and this thing with you need a 3.0 for the pre reqs I dont believe that is true, I was accepted into the program and when I discovered the cost and credits I withdrew. The only thing I had to do was past my NET with a 75 in which you are able to take twice. Futhermore, there are no prereqs for Keiser at lease there wasnt before I left, the have you take gen ed course due to the ASN that you are paying a arm and leg for, and then to find out you cant transfer them is crazy. Not to mention, the fact for the ap 1 and ap 2 course they did not even have actual labs, which really makes me wonder if they will past the premilary course with the BON to maintain, what is the past NCLEX rate for them? It is a waste of money if you ask me.

did you end up going to a community college? which one, broward? that's where i'm going to go.

Josh, not only is Keiser accredited through the state they are nationally accredited as well. Yes, when you graduate from Keiser you can take the NCLEX and if you pass you will be a real live RN. Now, you can also go on to get your BSN or MSN after Keiser. I have not found 1 school in Florida that won't accept the RN status from Keiser. You might have to retake a class or two, like a science class, but they acknowledge Keiser students. Some of the students that are 2-3 classes ahead of me, I go to the Keiser-Melbourne campus and graduate this July, have already started working towards either BSN and MSNs, of which 3 are going through FSU, one is going through Columbia University, and another is working on her NP through University of Georgia.

Some people say it is stupid or people are idiots who go there, see above post, but while others are sitting at home whining about not getting into a nursing school, or waiting for years on a wait list, I will have attended, graduated and started practicing as a RN. I don't see the idiocy in that. If I have the money to spend on that type of education, it is MINE to spend!

I really like the school, we are acredited, and you can transfer!!!

we do have a nice lab, put up. but then again... i dont care that much for ruber!!! i care for having good competent teachers who are there for you and dont have another 100 students to take care of!

we do have a open door policy at the faculty room as well as with the DON who is a wonderful person!!!

Our faculty is great!!! i cant complain at all from any of them! they simply are the best !!!

The school is not bad,

the dean and campus president are awesome people!!! you can walk to their office at anytime there is no appointment needed!

it is not cheap... but no one is forced into it...

I definitely would have done it all over again if i had to, they make our transition and learning experience really good.

and our pharm teacher is an angel! she is really nice, over all the whole faculty whants what is best for you, they treat you in a personal level, and are always there if you need them!!!

we have great Clinical intructors also...

i just cant complain... it is expensive, but come to think... it is helping me a lot

I have 2 co workers who are on valencia and seminole nursing programs, they are always stressed, always ****** of for some reason, and when i look at what they are studying, it is a whole bunch of scrambled up material that is not funny,

and they always come check what i am studying, and then they go like" oh we have not learned that yet!!! yet they are ahead of me!

nah...

you know what. it is worth it, if you put the efford, you will collect and that is true anywere! but i would say that is so much nicer to do it when there is faculty caring about you!

It is your money spend it how you want, but when I went to Keiser Jax none of the local two year schools would accept Keiser credit nor did any of the 4 year schools these course must be retaken.

So you are paying 38k for a NCLEX exam but it is your money

My experience with Keiser has been as long as you give them money they will pass you in the classes, the credits are not transferable, and when I had a problem with my finances I made my payment but I had to go and borrow the funds from a family member asap. The money was paid late because they did not give me the correct information, and when I brought to there attention that my credits were not transferrable I was told Keiser never promised me they would be. Yes, but Keiser did take my money and the counselor did tell me I could alway switch to another school or stay there. As a matter of fact, I had credits to transfer into Keiser nursing program and they did not even want to transfer in my credits why because it meant more money in Keiser pockets, so I paid over 7000 for one semester and I have credits for classes I past and cant used them because no school would expect them.

that is my experience and the experience of several others

I don't know what "supposed 4 years you state don't acknowledge Keiser" but UCF, University of Florida, and NUMEROUS MAJOR universities I have personally contacted do. You can choose to believe what you want to, but I know what I know. I don't take it personal, I just get tired of people saying things they have heard from others, or exagerate what is really happening. I personally called 5 NP

NO

I dont mean to hurt your feeling, but this is not gossip or something that was exagerated this is indeed something that has taken place for me. Now if you contacted Unv of Florida and they told you they accepted credits from Keiser then that is just great for you, however, as I stated in my past posting, the local state 2 year colleges as well as the local state 4 year colleges in Jax would not accept Keiser credits, neither will any of the school here in GA.

So before you assume that I heard this information please go back and read my posting I made it clear that this was from my personal experience.

With that being said I wish you the best of luck with your career in nursing, for me, as I stated Keiser was too much money for a RN degree that 90% of the schools I researched would not accept
