Hi everyone! So, I was just wondering if any of you guys know my chances in getting in the ADN program at KCC. I'm applying for Fall of 2014 and to be honest, I'm not really confident about my application... Just thinking about applying makes me nervous just because I know how competitive it is. Also, if you guys think applying for the PRCN program for KCC is a good idea also. Please let me know, thank you guys so much!

Hi Mary, my name is Lisa :)

Aww I was hoping I could save some $$$ by buying scrubs online.. I probably should stop buying things until after the orientation lol. So how long were you in the program before you had to drop?

I withdrew in July last year. It was such a bummer 4 me but my health and that of my baby was more important than school. Now my little girl is almost 4 months and very healthy so back 2 school I go. I already have a bachelors degree in anthropology so this will b my second degree. And yea I would wait on buying anything till after orientation haha. Well I look forward 2 meeting u Lisa at orientation in June!

Hi Mary and Lisa!!

My name is Elly :)

mary, since you have a bachelors degree you have many options available to you! You can apply kcc for ADN, Manoa for BSN or Manoa for masters in nursing right away.

I know now you don't want too make the commute to town. But I would apply to all 3 next semester. If kcc does open up the lcc site then you can choose kcc, if not commuting to UH would be closer than commuting to Kcc which is further. I believe the masters program is only 2 years.

Glad ad you and your baby are now both healthy :)

Hi Elly!

I also already have a bachelor's degree! I studied fine art (painting) at Manoa. I thought about doing the Masters entry program but it seemed like they want people with some kind of experience in healthcare, and I have none. They asked for letters of recommendation from people stating why you would make a good nurse and I had no idea who to ask for that lol. Plus it seems VERY fast-paced.

Mary, that is a bummer you had to withdraw :/ ..but the most important thing is that you both are doing well and healthy now :) Congrats!!

Hey Elly and Lisa! Yea if u knew they wouldn't have the LCC cohort open this fall I would have applied to uh manoa and it sounds like I woulda gotten into their program. Blah! So frustrating! I'm still holding out hope that they find instructors for LCC this fall and if not...I'm hoping I still get in at KCC. The commute would suck but u gotta do what u gotta do u know? Haha. R u at uh manoa in the fall Elly??

I* darn auto correct

Yea, I got accepted for the Fall at Manoa. :) I would definately apply to all 3 next semester. Manoa is much more easier to get into than KCC. I also wanted to get into KCC because of cost, but the longer I wait I feel like the more I am wasting time and also holds me back longer from getting that RN after my name. :) 3 years is not that long of a sacfrice, I hope lol

Lol well I ain't getting any younger haha...I turn 30 in a few weeks (yikes)! I need 2 start nursing school soon so I can start my career in the field. Well good luck 2 u at manoa Elly!

Believe me, I know how you feel Mary...lol! I just turned 31. Turning 30 was not fun :( haha

Well.. as they say: better late than never! :x3:

Wish you the best at Manoa Elly! I'm so happy for you that you made it in this semester! YAY no more waiting!

See you in June Mary! :) Hope a spot opens up for you!

Yeah, I was just so disappointed in myself for still scoring low! even when i studied so much :( but yeah, this time i'm just gonna study on the topics they mentioned for me to work on... cause this is just so depressing lol yeah, i'm not gonna take any summer courses, so i will definately study then & probably retake it in july :) i'm not giving up hope though! I just finished my CNA course, so i'm hoping to find a job as a CNA & gain experience for a letter of recommendation :) did you have prior CNA experience?
