Hi everyone! So, I was just wondering if any of you guys know my chances in getting in the ADN program at KCC. I'm applying for Fall of 2014 and to be honest, I'm not really confident about my application... Just thinking about applying makes me nervous just because I know how competitive it is. Also, if you guys think applying for the PRCN program for KCC is a good idea also. Please let me know, thank you guys so much!
Cumulative GPA: 3.6
Pre-req: 5 A's and 5 B's
Co-req: Only completed one with an A (taking the other one this semester)
TEAS score: 71.3%
No work experience
You're very welcome! :) Just wanted to let you know what the advisor told me. When you have time you should see a nursing advisor too and show him/her your scores, etc. so they can tell you what you should work on to have a strong application. You could even ask how their point system works. But the advisor I saw did tell me that they award the most points for the TEAS.
Thanks! Yeah, I'm very excited but very scared at the same time! LOL:nailbiting: Mostly scared about dealing with actual patients but how else are we gonna learn, right?! I know it's gonna be a lot of hard work for the next 2-3 years.
Good luck on the studying! I really admire your perseverance and I know you will be a nurse one day! (:
Yup I'm officially accepted into the program. My stats were: total teas score of 88.8%, all coreqs and prereqs done with all A's except for human anatomy I got B's in those 2 classes. I also had 2 years experience as a vet tech. I'm hoping they open the LCC cohort but am just happy I got in!

Congrats on completing the nurse aide training! :)
I did the CNA training back in October... And wow what an experience that was! Lol! (Some of my residents during clinical were pretty crazy). Anyway, when I talked to a nursing advisor to help prepare my application, I asked if I needed to get the certification, and she said no, just the certificate of completing the NA course was enough. So I never took the certification exam. She said they only give 1 extra point on your application for healthcare experience (that includes completing the NA training with no certification or actual work experience), but hey every little point helps! I'd definitely focus the most on getting the TEAS score up cuz she told me that's what they award the most points for. At least you still have some time before the next round of applications are due (:
