Hi everyone! So, I was just wondering if any of you guys know my chances in getting in the ADN program at KCC. I'm applying for Fall of 2014 and to be honest, I'm not really confident about my application... Just thinking about applying makes me nervous just because I know how competitive it is. Also, if you guys think applying for the PRCN program for KCC is a good idea also. Please let me know, thank you guys so much!
Cumulative GPA: 3.6
Pre-req: 5 A's and 5 B's
Co-req: Only completed one with an A (taking the other one this semester)
TEAS score: 71.3%
No work experience
@Kayla: Oh no! ;( At least it's still an improvement from your first score.. so you're going in the right direction! If I were you I would look at the score report and study my butt off on the areas where I scored the lowest. The "topics to review' page that you get with your score report would be a helpful guide in the areas you should focus your studying on. If you're not taking any summer classes it will be the perfect time to study (:
Hi swartie. It wasn't the councelor who said it, it was the lady who answers the phone and she said that they have fixed the instructor issue and should be accepting more than 18.
I honestly think it's because of the LCC cohort being opened twice which is causing the shortage of instructors.
And yea they won't tell you what number you are on the wait list no tried it last semester when I was on alt list also. And that semester they also accepted ONLY 18 and I believe only one was picked from the alt.
i swear at the orientation last semester there must have been 25+ alt and only 18 accepted, which does not count the lpn students who got in for the ADN.
Have you thought about trying for UH?
I didn't apply 2 UH cause I live in waianae and didn't wanna drive all the way into town. In a perfect world I wanted 2 get accepted and attend the LCC cohort. But I may have 2 make the commute if I get accepted 2 KCC and they don't offer the LCC cohort. Thankfully my car is great on gas lol.
Cupycake well we went over the handbook that ur suppose 2 print out and bring with u 2 the orientation. We also discussed who wanted 2 attend KCC and who wanted 2 attend the LCC cohort. Actual ppl in the program came in and talked about their experiences in the program up 2 that point. Financial aid ppl came and answered questions. We were able 2 look at the scrubs and we got 2 place our order 4 them. We also had 2 introduce ourselves and say a little something about ourselves and which program we applied 2. And their was like a 30-60 minute break in the middle of the orientation. 6 hours is a long time haha. R u gonna b at the orientation?
Cupycake they go over a lot. Financial aid was there 2 answer questions. We went over the handbook in its entirety (hence y u need 2 bring a copy with u 2 orientation). Ppl actually in the program came and discussed their experiences in the program up 2 that point. We were able 2 c the scrubs and place our order. We also had 2 introduce ourselves and say which program we applied 2. There was a 30 or 60 minute break so we could use the bathroom/eat/socialize. 6 hours is a long time haha. Will u b attending orientation? I'm not sure I'll get into the program but it would b nice 2 know someone who I may b classmates with :)

they go over the student handbook, you get to meet your first semester instructors, they show you the books you need to get (tons of them!), they take your pic ID (even alt students get their id pic taken), they have your try on the scrubs so that you can order then. They also have some speakers come to tell you what it's like. :)
Haha that's ok Ellers.. 2 explainations are always better than one :)
Swartie, I'll definitely be there! Oh geez, the good old introduce yourself to the class.. guess I'll have to suck it up and do it lol. Are we not able to order our own scrub pants (not from KCC) as long as they're royal blue? There's a Cherokee brand one on eBay that I just bid on :/ lol, guess I'm getting a little too ahead of myself.
Hope to see you there!

Hi swartie! If you look at the KCC class availability, it says there are only 18 seats for NURS 210 and 211, so I'm guessing that's all they accepted for Fall semester. I haven't confirmed this with counselor or anyone in the nursing department, though. How many were accepted shouldn't matter in your case -- what matters is how many drop the program! I'm guessing you have a good chance on getting in if people drop out since you were accepted before, that must mean you have pretty good stats (: Could you find out from a counselor what number you are on the waiting list?
