Kaplan..is it worth it?.

Published

-hi guys, just want to know that if kaplan review center is worth it?..to all the of you guys who tried it and passed after taking it?..coz $499 is alot of money..is it really worth it?..pls share with me your advice..:(

only $99 for 6 months access????? how true?

i only have the kaplan cd trainer, i didnt enrol online. good thing it worked for me. but the questions are harder and will really make you critically think.

If you use this resource and it helps you to reach your goal, of course it is worth it. Good luck on your test.

I've done the online course and I didn't think it was very thorough(content). If it were up to me, I would buy the Saunder's comprehension book , read that(or do the questions at the end and if u get 75% or more move on), do the CD(100 per day)...read all rationales and if you understand all of what you read and the questions, there is a good chance of passing(I've been reading on here for a while and MANY passed doing that) only spending 50 bucks.:nurse:

I will say that Kaplan was totally worth every penny. Saunders is very helpful if you can't remember certain content that you learned in nursing school. Kaplan AND the NCLEX assume that you know the content since you already learned it in nursing school. I suggest taking kaplan and if you don't remember something, go back and look it up. The questions that kaplan provides are exactly like the ones on the NCLEX (i know because I just took the nclex and passed first time). :wink2:

my bad i already ordered it..and im starting the test, im done with the QT12 and 3 and i got like 1 and 2 59% and the 3 is 51%..its horrible!!!..

i've done terrible on question trainers (47-57ish) and took them again a second time after i finished the entire classroom course and did better of course (60ish). i did terrible on my readiness test (54) but that's not a predictor of how you will do on the nclex. i passed the nclex on 102 questions and was the calmest person there

Kaplan was worth every single penny!!! If you can't afford the entire thing atleast purchase he Qbank.

I completed the Qbank with a 65% Cum

My Diagnostic was 54

My Readiness was 65

My trainer scores were:-

57

63

56

63

56

65

71

I took the NCLEX only did 75 questions in 1 hour and passed.

The cost of Kaplan was worth to me. We received a discount as a class but it was still about $400 for the instructor-led class and Qbank access for 3 months. It's a little less I believe, if you choose the online class. I felt that Kaplan mirrored the NCLEX closely. It prepared me to feel comfortable with taking timed tests. Our classroom instructor was also very nice and had us email him with questions or even encouragement/questions long after the classroom part ended. The important part is to review not only your wrong answers but your right answers and solidify it in your mind. I looked up the things I was continually getting wrong. :anbd:I found that reviewing the rationales afterwards was a pain and a very time consuming proces, but its what I had to do to pass NCLEX the first time. :)

Kaplan worth every penny to me. The online content is great because at this point you want to focus on keypoints not detailed information. The online videos are based on frequently nclex tested information. Use the workbook while watching the online videos, it will help tremendously. I passed the first time using 90% Kaplan and 10% saunders.

i agree with futurenurse-- i also used about 90% and 10% saunders and it worked.

Never did a kaplan question or looked at one of their books- and I passed w/75 ?'s. I used Saunders,LaCharity and Hogan. So for me not necessary- if it is worth it I can't say. Certainly possible to pass without even looking at Kaplan.

I used Kaplan Qbank.. I think it is $299 online. I thought it was really helpful. There's over 1,000 questions that get you really thinking NCLEX style. Also, it did not have lectures included with it but I studied the content of the questions and the rationales which really helped too. I had a Saunders book but didn't really use it because it was just too big for me, and I didn't have enough time to study it all (I crammed my studying into 4 days). I passed with 75 Q's.
