  1. The purple Kaplan strategies book does not have content in it. It has test taking strategies and some sample tests in it. It is a quick read as well. Sanders has a lot of content and I think has a chapter on test taking skills, but I felt it was just too much for me to handle (way too big). It also comes with a cd with over a few thousand questions on it. That's what I know of the two.. hope it can help you a little! You can also try googling "Nclex 3500" and just take their practice tests and read the rationales .. you can learn a lot of content just by doing that and it's free!
  2. Hey Feenin.. did you get your results on BON yet? Mine still says WAIT and I'm just trying to see if anyone else's does too.. Also, I know how frustrating the job search is. I think it is that way all around Florida. Hopefully it will change soon. Good luck with the search!!
  3. I walked out of the test POSITIVE I failed because I felt I got so many "basic" questions... I had knots in my stomach waiting to try the Pearson vue trick but ended up passing. I definitely think it's common to feel like that. Good luck and I hope you passed!!!
  4. I did Kaplan Qbank only and finished it all with a 54% average at the end (scores were all over the place too) and passed Nclex with 75 questions. I am weak in pharm also and studied the ones I saw on the Qbank as well as common meds.
  5. I took both Hurst Review & Kaplan Qbank and also had the Kaplan Strategies book.. I really liked the Kaplan Qbank because it gave me good questions plus I studied the rationales of every question and learned alot of content from it as well. Hurst Review was okay as well. They simplified content and had a lot of good info on their 5th day CD. Overall, I liked Kaplan Qbank better.
  6. If you google "NCLEX3500" they have tons of practice questions for free and you can select an option to JUST practice the SATA.. but I will say I was doing really bad on the ones I practiced on but when I got to the test I felt they were fairly easy.. so don't be discouraged!
  7. I too thought the Kaplan questions were way harder and the layout being the same helped me feel more comfortable at the testing site .. I didn't buy the Kaplan course and juts bought the Qbank which has about 1,125 questions and 3 mini sample NCLEX tests.. I also used a different review for content thinking that the Qbank wouldn't give me any but reading the rationales actually made me learn alot of content as well
  8. you know what.. you are right I was writing out of frustration but I should and am very happy that I am now a licensed nurse! thanks for the advice ) I am going to try your advice and hopefully they will be okay with that just for a little bit while I am waiting for my official result to post
  9. I used Kaplan Qbank.. I think it is $299 online. I thought it was really helpful. There's over 1,000 questions that get you really thinking NCLEX style. Also, it did not have lectures included with it but I studied the content of the questions and the rationales which really helped too. I had a Saunders book but didn't really use it because it was just too big for me, and I didn't have enough time to study it all (I crammed my studying into 4 days). I passed with 75 Q's.
  10. Yes, the trick definitely works! Tried it on Aug 12 and quick results says PASS!
  11. I have been lurking the forums for a while now but I decided to finally post because I am so frustrated and wanted to see if this happened to anyone else and how long it took to resolve the issue.. I took my NCLEX August 12th at 8 AM and I live in Florida. Usually, you can check your scores on the BON website 24 hours later. Well, mine kept saying "waiting for score" so I waited it out until this morning (Aug 13th) and the full 48 hours. It still did not post, so I paid for my Quick Results from Pearson Vue. Well, I was really excited that I passed! BUT THEN, I was wondering why I still hadn't been updated with my BON, and I called them. They told me Pearson Vue has NOT sent them my score and this happens sometimes to about 1% of the test takers. Normally, they get them within 24 hours, but mine did not come. He said something like it is done electronically, and sometimes the max gigabytes is reached and some don't get sent and now there's a back log and it takes a while to find the error so it will take a while to fix this problem (at least 2 full weeks!). Well, the problem is I start my job next week and need to have my results on the BON website and even though Pearson Vue says I passed it is not "official" until the BON has my results, so I called Pearson Vue myself to try to get them to send my score. I WAS SO FRUSTRATED talking to them because I think they are based in a foreign country and he kept saying that I will receive my score from my BON in 4-6 weeks but would not understand that the BON did not have my score. There was a huge communication problem, so I talked to the supervisor who told me it was sent on August 12th to my BON (which it wasn't), and then he told me to talk to them about it and basically kept repeating that they had the score. So basically, I am just frustrated because now I don't think I can start my job on time and this isn't my fault. I was so happy I passed and now I'm just freaked out again. To make matters worse, my other friends that took their exams the same day as mine got their results in 24 hours and are all set on the BON website so I feel like it was just mine. The guy DID say it's been happening to other people too but only to 1% of the testakers.. UGHH
