I passed on my 1st try.
I took the Kaplan nclex class and did 90 % of the question bank questions that they have online. I also watched a lot of the lecture videos. i mostly watched the ones from the top 3 subject matter on the nclex (which you can get from the pearsonvue website, like physiological adaptation etc...) or i watched the videos on subjects that i was iffy on. i followed along with the book during the class and the online lectures that you can access after the class is over.
I ONLY used Kaplan and i passed the first time i took the nclex, i think i had 130 questions but i didn't see because it shuts you off abruptly.
I also feel i remembered a lot from school, like stuff on TPN or meds or whatever we studied in 4th semester etc etc. AND i was going through a divorce so if I can do it, so can you!

congrats!
thx! I studied 5 weeks, couldv'e been less but at 1st i only did 50 questions a day and a few videos. by the last 7 days i had already saw most of the videos that i wanted to and i did 150 questions p/day and i did it on Tutor mode. what ever i didnt' know i took notes on in Word Doc, then I'd print them out every few days and go over it again. the day of the test I read my notes again before I left the house. I had about 30 pages of notes, but it was easy to read cuz i had highlighted stuff and plus i am the one who typed it, so it was a fast re-read :)
the notes really STUCK in my head since i had typed them, it help me to remember it :)
I think it would have been fine if I'd had about 3 weeks, but you know how that goes, lol.
Someone wrote me a private message and asked for my notes, I don't have enough posts to answer you, I deleted allll the crap on my computer already and believe me, you will remember it better if you do it yourself :) good luck to everyone!

hi
Can u plz help me. I did 99% qbank questions already and I also did kaplan trainer questions. I did not read the book. I watched the videos little bit. I am going to take the exam this month. What else should I do at this time. I am so scared. I also did the classroom anywhere with kaplan.
know your med catagories. like heart meds: beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, diuretics,
positive inotrope is what?
know what they mostly end in, like LOL, PINE etc,
and what to know regarding electrolytes for those meds, like, if you are taking a certain kind of diuretic SuchandSuch, which electrolyte for THAT MED is most important that you u watch- like pt's sodium, calcium, or potassium?
remember that meds which make u loose water or change your blood volume etc make you dizzy=know that.
know about meds that YOU give, that could hurt someone, heart meds, parkinsons, antipsych, digoxin, diuretics.
type up the bare minimun on those, print it and read it several times. meds are a large part of the nclex
I PERSONALLY search google, for top ten heart meds, top ten diuretics, top ten antipsychotics etc etc, THEN i read about them in my drug guide and typed up one line on each.
how did the rest of you do on your nclex, did you pass yet? i hope :)
Thanks sarah
For ur advice and I will definetely work on the meds. I think in kaplan LOD pharm really helps also. Sarah did u get any math problems because i hate math.
