  1. yes you qualify
  2. ya, i noticed that the rn-bc is through the ancc which i THOUGHT was a big deal! i really loveee med surg and i want to get certified, i'm trying to make up my mind too. i've taken a practice test which just seemed like stuff i know from work or school.
  3. djh, no one could have put it better than you did. i also worked in an office for several years and like you said, poor behavior was rare, it's creepy, suprising and VERY diappointing.
  4. yep CNA's are great! I hope they understand sometimes we are at work 14 hours instead of 12 because we can not leave our documentation un-done, while they usually leave when their shift is over. that is why we ask them to go do the little stuff, not because we don't want to. at least that is how it is where I work.
  5. what is that?
  6. Merner where in michigan? what about ann arbor, u of m hospital? they are hiring.
  7. it's snotty comments like the one the original poster started with, that made me answer "I don't know yet" any time a nurse would ask me what area I'd like to work in. they don't really want to know what area you want work in, they're just looking for another reason to complain about something.
  8. do you still have a choice to do the icu? if you do and that is what you want then do it. i wouldn't go over her head though, unless she were trying to fail you. don't rock the boat, soon enough you will be out of school and you wont have to deal with her anymore.
  9. "from time of a sx to fix a fracture about 3 days stay.." what does "sx" mean?
  10. and for anyone who is wondering, yes, just like everyone else, I had to apply for, I don't know may 80 positions (nightmare). the three that called me back were ALL the ones where I somehow got the FAX or email of the HR or Director of Nursing, and after applying, I sent an email, fax or both saying why I should please be the one they hire. All three eventually interviewed me and offered positions. You for sure need to be proactive, work there already, get the HR info during clinicals etc etc. go talk to a nurse manager while you are doing clinicals there, etc etc. boy oh boy, I thought I'd loose my mind doing all of those online applications that really just go nowhere .
  11. Angelrain, good luck with your interviews! I hope you get what you'd like! Will they pay you better in the hospital, or will the hospital pay better in the long run?
  12. thx . I have picked Healthsouth. Next year my husband's contract work is up and we just may move, so I think all that you have mentioned makes Healthsouth sound great. Plus if we do not move I really like the bunch who works there and the insurance is great too.
  13. i totally hear u, it's all paperwork
  14. tampa hospitals 21.33= new grad, some hospitals even have it posted on the job listings. more if you've experience as an LPN
  15. well renal is what i'm interested in, BUT i have not read good things about Davita. I have also seen firsthand the pt's who go to rehab and yes they are mighty complex, insurance kicks them out of the hospital fairly quick i have been told. and i have to admit the team at the rehab hospital is a very sweet and fun bunch. my only real worry was if my husband gets transferred for work and i have to find another position, i don't want the hassle that we new grads have, i want a hospital to say, oh look she has XYZ experience that will transfer nicely into a hospital setting.
