Kaplan college in San Diego RN program

Published

Hi, I will be starting the RN program with Kaplan as soon as we relocate. My husband's in the Military so the wait lists at other colleges turned me away from them.

Do any of you go to Kaplan? If so, how did it work out for the student loans and stuff , I am confused. It seems as if tuition is around 45000 for the couple years of the program. I am eligible for the pell grant and the military grant of 3000 per year. But would the loans be able to cover everything else since it's a vocational school more than a traditional college? Thanks!

I will be starting in Sept. So excited!!! YaY :) Excited to meet you all!!

Hello guys,

I'm starting Kaplan's LVN-ADN program in September. I'm so excited. I'm moving from LA to SD. Any ideas for roommates? Is any male nurse student going there too? I'm so happy happy :)

I haven't met with them yet either, but they said they would call soon to set up appt. Only 17 days!!!!!!

I know financial aid is going to give me palpatations...:redpinkhe One day at a time though, and it will all be worth it:nurse:

No, it's still about $50k. I am starting in 2 weeks and just came from a financial aid appointment.

Hi Emily!

Could you please give me any info as to how your financial aid turned out? I recently graduated as an LVN from private college but really want to go to private college for RN. The thing that really worries me is how much I'd have to pay as I go along. Did you have to apply for a private loan? Thanks in advance!

If this is your only option, then go for it. 45k is a lot of money to payback and can be a very big burden later on. If you ever have to file for bankruptcy, student loans don't go away (correct me if I'm wrong on this). In my situation I had to work full-time to support family and so I just had to be patient but I eventually got my ASN at a JC. The bad - it took me awhile but the good - I don't have to pay back any loans. What ever you decide goodluck..........I think the most important thing is how well the school prepares you for the NCLEX and maybe take a look at their passing rate.
