Kaplan college in San Diego RN program

Published

Hi, I will be starting the RN program with Kaplan as soon as we relocate. My husband's in the Military so the wait lists at other colleges turned me away from them.

Do any of you go to Kaplan? If so, how did it work out for the student loans and stuff , I am confused. It seems as if tuition is around 45000 for the couple years of the program. I am eligible for the pell grant and the military grant of 3000 per year. But would the loans be able to cover everything else since it's a vocational school more than a traditional college? Thanks!

Does anyone know when Kaplan does their informational meeting for the ADN program? I spoke with a rep and I misplaced the days. Also, is Eng II one of the pre-req's? Thanks to anyone who knows the info.

It's Thursday, September 2 from 3:00 to 5:00.

I'll be there too!

On the pre-req's, English Comp is one of the program's Gen Ed classes so it would all depend on whether it filled the requirements for Kaplan. Bring in an official copy of your transcripts to your administrator and he/she should be able to tell you whether Kaplan will accept it.

Are you talking about the meeting where they tell you what you need to get into the program or the orientation? The days vary but i know it usually takes place every other day. You can call your rep. or email him/her. Its a really short meeting btw.

Nice. I still haven't seen the DON yet. Not sure exactly how long it should take since they werent specific with the times they just listed to choose from 9am-4pm. HAs anyone met with her yet? I guess i will be seeing all of you soon. BTW I found the CPR class and it is the BSL one. Its $50 if anyone is wondering.

Specializes in none that i can think of right now.

the meeting with the DON is that a one-on-one thing or is that a group thing? I still havent gotten the letter from Kaplan about what to do next and stuff

I e-mailed the DON last night and requested a specific time on the days shown on the letter and she e-mailed back first thing this morning confirming the time.

I was told its a one on one thing. She just wants to meet us thats all.

Thanks kessy- I am just starting the process, so the informational meeting is what I need to attend. I still need to take the math at a community college, so I have time.

So this is exciting. Im moving to San Diego from West Covina which is 2 1/2 hours away from each other and since i only have a month and still dont know if im in for september, i think i have to commute:crying2:. So when i know im defientily in then i have to look for a place. Does anyone know where i can find a cheap place to stay at? What cities do you guys come from?

Well i live on Adam avenue (normal heights). I like the area and rent isn't too bad. I personally like the area and I think its a convenient drive to kaplan. There are cheaper place but they are further down south.
