Hi, I will be starting the RN program with Kaplan as soon as we relocate. My husband's in the Military so the wait lists at other colleges turned me away from them.
Do any of you go to Kaplan? If so, how did it work out for the student loans and stuff , I am confused. It seems as if tuition is around 45000 for the couple years of the program. I am eligible for the pell grant and the military grant of 3000 per year. But would the loans be able to cover everything else since it's a vocational school more than a traditional college? Thanks!
i really hope so... im beginning to see how unorganized they are now. or maybe we just have to same advisor lol...i dont want to be too confiden this time and think i'll be in again .. specially after what had happened..so i'll just keep on keeping my fingers crossed... oh, i barely passed by 1 point to enroll so thats what i did and then i went to take the teas again the following week and turned the stuff in that i had at the time. man this sucks..i hate the what if feelings.. or am in or not etc etc...but what can we do. i think i;'ll go grab some coffee
I read it in my email, but now it's not in my inbox here. WIERD! lol. I got your reply. haha. The way that alternates were explained to me was that you have to be willing to sit in class for a week as an alternate, even if you are not guaranteed in. I would just keep being persistent. You will get in.
I got a letter saying I didn't get accepted. I have no idea why. I made an 83.5 on the Teas. Do they send a separate letter if you are an alternate?
You should just call your counselor. They go off more than just the TEAS score though. They factor in previous education, GPA, work experience and other stuff. Although the min for the teas you need is an 81%, you also have to have a minimum of 60% on the math and science portions. It's a point system based on probability of success to handle an accelerated science based program. This is the way it was explained to me by one of the counselors there.
I'm so sorry you didn't get in. Don't give up, try again for the May cohort! Best of luck to you.

Your trasncripts are there, you need to go in and ask for them at the registrar. They told me they lost mine too and they were at the registrar. I have a friend who went there who gave me a heads up on how air headed the admissions staff was so I was calling every day asking " did you find my transcripts?", then I got smart and called the registrar myself. They said they had them. I went in after I passed my TEAS, which I was told the minimum they accept for admission is an 81%, so I went in to complete my application and I had to physically walk with the counselor to the registrar and have them get them for me, they were there!! You just have to be on top of them allllllll the time about everything. I think you have a good chance at getting in as an alternate and wouldn't worry about it if you are #4.
