Kaplan college in San Diego RN program

Published

Hi, I will be starting the RN program with Kaplan as soon as we relocate. My husband's in the Military so the wait lists at other colleges turned me away from them.

Do any of you go to Kaplan? If so, how did it work out for the student loans and stuff , I am confused. It seems as if tuition is around 45000 for the couple years of the program. I am eligible for the pell grant and the military grant of 3000 per year. But would the loans be able to cover everything else since it's a vocational school more than a traditional college? Thanks!

i havent called yet, i was gona wait it through. i think i will call tomorrow. he told me my scores are good and i have a very good chance of getting accepted, but you never know... :/ .. im just concerned about my background check being faxed in on time.

Ah yeah, hey that would SUCK if he didn't fax that for you. :(

yea but we'll see. i'll try calling tomorrow and hopefully he did before the deadline. when i dropped off all the my paper work, he couldnt even find my folder. he never made one, so all my paperwork were just stacked under all the other folders. i guess they get alot of applicants or what not...seems like a very stressful job. thats why i was curious if it was your advisor that called or not. alot of times when i did call while i was getting everything together, he was so hard to get in touch with. they get very busy. i usually end up just going there without an appointment. it was just to turn the paperwork in anyways. i coudlnt get through so i just drove there. well ill keep my fingers crossed. finanical aid is the next process right?

Ya, I wasn't impressed with my counselor either. She never remembered who I was when I was there, lost my transcripts and never did my file. I had to go there often to make sure everything got done properly. They are sales people more than they are counselors. But, I have a friend who went there and she said the teachers and stuff actually do care, so once u make it past counseling its better. Good luck to you. Let me know how it goes!

you;re right about the salesman part. i applied two years ago and never went through with it cause at the time i was working full time. ill let you know what happens tomorrow if im able to get through. hopefully we can all start at the same time, and this frustrating enrollment part will be behind us...(well for me atleast..lol)

Oh man that is no good. I really hope my counselor didn't lose all my paperwork. I got an 83% on the TEAS with an 80% on Science and 74% on math. I also have medical experience but still haven't heard one way or the other.. I am dying to know!!!!

I am also dying to know...hopefully I get a call today! Does anyone know how many people applied for this term?

I asked back in early November and they said over 100 applied.

maybe call your advisor to "check on the status of your application" so your not playing the waiting game. when i would call before just to ask questions, i was told that everyone is busy and that they're short staffed and what not. just call, it won't hurt to try and find out for yourself. good luck to you guys!

The woman who called me said over 130 applicants applied and 50 were chosen. I also know there is 8 alternates that will be picked. Good Luck to everyone and I hope you all find out soon as well! Let us know!

Side note: I am looking for a carpool buddy from the Oceanside/ Camp Pendleton area when school starts.

What did you score on the TEAS and do you have medical experience?

ok so i tried calling like 3 times and all i got was voicemail. i left a message but still didnt hear back. so i went to get the mail earlier and i received a letter and i was not accepted.. :( im kind of ******. so i tried callig the director of admissons but he wont be back until monday. i thought i pretty much had a good chance and even my advisor said i would surely have a good chance of being in. i scored pretty high on my teas. have over 3 years medical experience, turned in all the paperwork. school transcripts, letter of work confirmation, etc. there could be other reasons why i didnt make it, but im thinking the main reason is probably my background check wasnt faxed in so they probably didnt even look at my paperwork. thats why i wanted to talk to the director of admissions. what do you guys think? and it would suck for me to have to wait until may of next year to begin. right now, works been slow so timing is really good for me to go. im disappointed if anything, and i just want to know why. i tried calling again, and got voicemail... any comments advice? i can sure use some.. :D
