Hi, I will be starting the RN program with Kaplan as soon as we relocate. My husband's in the Military so the wait lists at other colleges turned me away from them.
Do any of you go to Kaplan? If so, how did it work out for the student loans and stuff , I am confused. It seems as if tuition is around 45000 for the couple years of the program. I am eligible for the pell grant and the military grant of 3000 per year. But would the loans be able to cover everything else since it's a vocational school more than a traditional college? Thanks!
ok so get this -- i called again and spoke with an advisor. now they are telling me that i did not make it in at all. not even as an alternate. they looked at the wrong file when they gave me that info yesterday. i dont know whats going on. and i dont know how they can look at the wrong account because i have a very unique last name -- anyhow, she was very nice and helpful but she couldnt get my file because my advisor has it and of course when she transfer me to him, he doesnt answer his phone.. so i left a message. i called her back and she said she;'ll leave him a note to call me asap. lets see if he does... i think somethings going on and they are not trying to say... now im feeling more frustrated if anything..cant seem to get an answer to anything..... any comments, opinion?
i thnk they just changed that. because when i took the teas, they said you can take it as much times as you want, but now im hearing that you are only allowed 3 times. so my advisor finally called me, and was kinda pushing me for may. stating that he too didnt understand why i didnt make it in and that i for sure was a good candidate for may..-- hmmm yah ok.. kinda hard to convince me at this moment. so i asked who was in charge of the selection process..was it agroup of directors? etc..he said it was the DON who makes the decision and usally her decisions are final etc..so i told him i wanted to email her to see if maybe i can get a clear explanation of why i wasnt accepted? what can i do to improve my chances? etc etc.. he seemed a little hesitant, in my opinon, on giving me her email address. i said i would call and he was sort of stating something like, you can call, but she doesnt answer her phone. etc etc. and im thinking.. hmmm i had a hard time getting thru to you myself, but i didnt say it.. anyhow what do you guys think? i know its alrady done and over with for the selection process.but should i still try to email the don and see why?... the way he made it seem was like the DON is not very receptive to students asking questions.. he said they look at many things, grades, background, teas, experience, degree factor.. everything. im just cruious because i seem to be very qualify. thats why im just wondering. i mean i can start in may but thats such a long wait, as we all been waiting for so long even for jan. 2010. and to wait until may ..that seems forever! i just want to know what is it that i can improve on? so what should i do? do yo uthink i should email the don anways? or just let it go and try for the may spot?
I think you should just let it go and try for May. If you have a job now, use it as an opportunity to save save save because you can't work during the program and having that extra money will be helpful. IF all decisions are final I don't know how emailing the DON is going to help. Perhaps your counselor might be able to get some answers for you and help you do what you need to do to get in for May. Everything happens for a reason, you may not see it now, but maybe it's for the best right now. Of course, this is just how I would handle the situation if it were me... it's really up to you how you choose to handle it.
i think you only need 6 months medical experience. thats true, maybe i should just let it go. my counselor didnt really have an answer. he jsut told me everything's done on my part. all i need to re enroll is to sign two pieces of paper after the jan. class starts.. i wanted to start now because works been really slow. i hardly even go in anymore. im on call now so i figure this is the best time to start.
