Kapiolani CC ADN selection

  1. What was your TEAS score for KCC?

Hi All,

I am curious as to what a competitive applicant has for an ATI TEAS score, GPA, prereqs. I understand the minimum TEAS was 78, but it has been temporarily lowered to 65.

Obviously, the higher the scores the better, but what does an average accepted applicant's scores look like?

What is a solid TEAS score for acceptance, do I have to score in the 90s or are scores in 70s adequate?

Do most selectees earn A's on their Zoology and MICR, or are B's competitive? Essentially, I am wondering if I should fork out additional money to retake the zoology classes to raise the B's to A's or is that an unwise use of tight funds?

Any guidance is appreciated.

Roz,

No. Still waiting for a reply back. But 86% that's high! I'm already starting to study for the teas. I need to focus on grammar and reading. I guess you need an 85 or above to get in. Which I think if I do study now I can achieve it. I know what you mean by taking a break. I was so down last night also.

I guess most student will wait for UH and UH doesn't send out till late october early November. We will find out for sure in November. I really want to know what number I am on that list.

We should before so we can all go together.

Thanks! Yeah, I really don't know, it just doesn't seem possible to have everything perfect and still not get in. Sorry, I didn't mean to scare any of you lol, I was just freaking out when I heard that because it's like you can have great scores and everything and still won't be good enough. I really hope that's not the case though. I've just been hearing stories from many people about knowing someone who has great stats and couldn't get into KCC and it's scaring me lol. Maybe it's time for a visit to the nursing counselor

Anyway, hope you guys make it in for spring!

Cupycake what are your teas and gpa?

Coug,

I called fast CPR and they can do it the back to back 150. But I called one of the ones listed on kccs list and found one that will come to YOUR house to do a one on one for his package it includes the aed. And it's only 65. But you don't get the card the day it takes a couple of weeks. I think I'm gonna go with this guy. Go on the list and look "hands: on-site CPR training class". I think this is a good deal.plus he been working as a trainer for kcc so he knows what we need

Thanks a lot Elley that is useful information. I guess if its done soon, its not a problem waiting a couple weeks.

Coug

Hey roz did your friend mention how many were accepted?

I'm taking ZOOL142 and 142L right now (so far I have an A), but for the rest of my prerequisite classes I have all A's except for a B in ENG. I have another Bachelors degree from Manoa and I think my total GPA for there was close to 3.9. I got a 94% on the TEAS and I'm taking the CNA training right now at the Red Cross. Hopefully all that is enough to get me in. Do you know by any chance if they want you to actually pass the certification test for CNA, or is just proof of taking a training course enough? I might have to ask the counselor about that.

Wow cupycake your teas score is awesome!!! I think that's good. If you were to go through past post on here you will see that some are accepted without cna certification. Did you do well on the English language usage on the teas? I have a problem with that and could use some tips or help. My highest was the math section. Surprising because I suck at math! Buahaha. Who are you taking for zool142? At kcc?

Hi guys! Do any of you know of the difference between the UH Manoa program and the KCC program as far as quality? Thanks in advance :)

Hi,

Uh has a more update sim lab than KCC which I think can benefit a person. But overall I think education will be the same. Just that kcc is associates compared to uh where you spend an extra year and have your bsn.

Guys, I checked the class availability for spring 2014 and nurs210 had 30 seats available so I think kcc accepted 30 students and UH accepted 56. That's a lot!

That's a lot of students. I wonder if KCC will increase that number in the following weeks. Nurs212 is also a required class that's taken in the first semester of nursing school but that one holds 42 compared to the Nurs210 class. That class availability might be a draft. Here's to hoping they accept more than 30 students and possibly the alternates. :)
