Kaiser NorCal New Grad Residency 2023 (Spring Cohort 5)

Nurses Residency

Updated:   Published

Hello everyone! I didn't see this topic on the forum, so I'll create this for anyone else who is planning to apply to Kaiser's New Residency Program. Good luck!!

Anyone know if there is a chat for cohort 6?Does anyone know how long after applying so you get the snapshot email?

Hey, I haven't seen anything for cohort 6 yet... this is my first time so I'm not sure of the process..

Nope not yet. I think they wait until the application period ends before sending the snapshot. I believe you get that email if you are chosen to move on to the interview.

Hello Cohort 5,

I'm currently applying for the Cohort 6.

Is it a must to have an EKG Certification to be hired? Is there anyone who got the job without the certification?

And if it is a must for the Certification, what website do you recommend/have done yours?

Thank you so much!

I got a rejection letter as well. Good luck to all of you who landed an interview.

Any tips for the PowerPoint? Can I see anyone's if they are willing to share? . Any tips for this part of the process for those of you that have already gone through it.  Thank you so much in advance.

She said over 1000k applied. They never tell. What were the times mike's at 10am, 12pm was another not sure it was later. I only had 4 but I think there supples to be 6. Add how many days that had for interviews. Then maybe times 6 by the slits and you may can figure it out. Our process at kaiser is really long, we may see the update on kaiser HR before they send you offer. For external you may not have that tab that says offers. Do you? But they will update the job and either says no longer being considered or talent pending hire. That's when you see the date current.

Good luck to everyone.

Hello Nurse_aiit,

Great Accomplishment!  Congratulations!

In your opinion, which Kaiser location has the greatest need?

Hi everyone!  I hope you are all doing well in your residencies!  I am in cohort 6 and will be starting in just over a month. Can anyone tell me what the FIRST week is like?  I'm assuming it's mostly new employee orientation etc. Is there much floor exposure?  Or mostly educational stuff and shadowing etc?  Trying to get an idea what the FIRST few shifts are like as I have heard they're a little different than the rest of the orientation period for new grad residents?  Thank you!

The first week is not on the floor, it's a whole bunch of education about nursing specific to Kaiser and how things work. You do go to the hospital floor as well to see the unit/familiarize yourself with the hospital, but you don't start shadowing until the second week.

Hello,

I'm in Cohort 7, and I'm wondering if anyone from Cohort 6 can share their schedule for the first 6 weeks of the program. I've heard that other programs work about 8am-5pm Monday through Friday the first 6 weeks. Is that how Kaiser does it too?

Thank you!

Hi,

I am cohort 5.  I think most people where I am at had a schedule of 40 hours one week and 32 the other week.  About every 2 weeks we had classes.  You will work every other weekend.  You will be assigned 2 preceptors.  A main one and back up and will follow their schedule for I think 12 weeks.  Hope this helps!  Good luck.

Hey! I'm in Cohort 5

I attached a picture of the orientation schedule I had. You can orient on day/eve shift but not nights (they want most people orienting on day shift). Day 7am-3:30pm, eve 3pm-11:30pm, night 11pm-7:30am

the schedule is 72 hours every 2 weeks

the greyed out days were "in service" days where we did modules from home the first couple weeks. Then they organize training sessions at your kaiser locations depending on the week (neuro, resp, etc)
