Hi Everyone.... I just returned from this dreadful and depressing exam. I studied so hard and it feels like its not enough. This is my 4th attempt. My exam stopped at 127 questions. It consisted of Zero SATA, Zero Math, 17 Meds, 1 drag and drop, Many teaching questions which I have no clue if that's a good thing, I kept getting questions about what I would include in a care plan with a certain condition etc. Many Psychosocial questions, approx 7 maybe little more on infection control. The areas that I got many questions on were Peds, GI, some renal and endocrine. I did not see any on cardio or maternity.
My last question really depressed me because I was hoping for it to be a priority question or a med and it was not either or. It had to do with breathing masks and I had no clue on that. I interpreted this type of question as a content question meaning it was not high level which to me indicates a bad sign. Anyhow I am depressed and prayed that this would be my last time. I feel very exhausted emotionally and mentally. I was so happy to think I would finally be able to move on and begin a noble career. Again I stand in complete limbo with NCLEX continuing to dictate my future. I feel that maybe the fact I have taken it so much could just be a sign I should reconsider my career. Perahps I may pose a threat or liability to the community. I feel so DISCOURAGED that I studied so much so hard. I studied every question in Saunders 3rd edition in the cd. Read every rationale and looked at infection control with caution and practiced priority questions. I did over 4 thousand questions. I dont know what to think I guess I am hurting very much. Will keep you guys posted. The exam I fuond it to be very hard and very strange questions that one would not necessarily pay close attention to in other words very sneaky questions.
Be well everyone!!
The 3rd edition does not have any of the new format questions. If one has the 3rd edition, then use it; but if it does not work for you and you do not pass, highly recommend that you get the 4th edition. There is enough of a difference to make it worthwhile in getting.
Your choice, but this is my suggestion to you.
hello .....I wanna know if there are too many diferences between the 3th and 4th saunders edition....
good day for every body.....
yes this is the problem..let see if somebody else answer our question!!
Thanks for the reply you posted on my thread. In regards to Saunders 3rd ed vs 4th edition... I have to give you my take on this. My brother has the 4th edition and I have the 3rd. I sat and compared each chapter and also looked at the questions in the cd when we studied together. Both editions are extremely similar. The 4th edition contains perhaps 200 to 300 additional questions compared to the 3rd. As far as the new format questions you get some extra practice on SATA but its not much. The content on both is very similar. Plus I have noticed there are still many that pass the nclex having used the 3rd edition. The whole thing with the NCLEX is to understand the concept. Lets say for example I tested yesterday and I was weak on respirator masks cause I didnt focus on that... I had questions about elderly about many menus what youd give patient with such and such. Also on coharting which is which patients you would room togther. Delegation......
If you need more content I would say try NCLEX3500 Google it its free. Dont go crazy on sata as the nclex has phases an it appears from many recent posts that Satas are not showing up to much.
Anyhow much luck to you!!!!
This is a message from cubano30, hope this will help.

I agree with suzanne here, when i first take the nclex I used the 3rd edition, i decided to buy 4th edition and its was good its pretty much similar but much better...
I agree with those that say the newer editions are better. My Nclex review required the Saunders 4th edition and some people had the 3rd edition and whenever we were trying to make a point and to highlight an important note in the chapter, the people who had the 3rd edition did not have it. The 4th edition is more appealing to look at, colorful and with new alternate format questions, which is pretty big on the NCLEX now i hear even though i had none on mine.I aslo have the SAUNDERS alternate format book and it helped me a lot if i had gotten SATA on my exam.I learned a trick that if there are 6 options, most of the time its 3 or 4 answers. If there are 5 options, most of the time its 2 or 3 that apply. The NCLEX was upgraded in the end of 2007 with the new passing standard.I wanted to get an edition that was more updated to the NCLEX change, and that was just my opinion.Hope this helps
