JUST took the NCLEX, good pop up at 75 questions..

Nursing Students NCLEX

Anyone have any reviews on the amount of alternate item format they got on their NCLEX? I am still a ball of nerves even though the test stopped at 75 questions, i know its still possible to fail at this point. I had 28 SATA, 41 multiple choice, 3 drag and drop, 2 dose calc, and 1 exhibit. Im pretty sure that OB was my lowest scoring area bc I kept getting a ton of OB questions..

But as far as passing goes, what where others compilations of question formats that they saw?

Any advice would help!

And I can't respond to your messages in my inbox until I post a certain amount of topics on here.. Lol but I did the Pearson vue trick an hour after the test and got the good pop up to answer your question.

Why would you do the Pearson Vue Trick an hour after the test??

The number of questions you got in any format is irrelevant. SATA questions, while universally disliked, are not indicative of higher or lower level questions, they are merely questions. Same with delegation, prioritization, math.

People spend a lot of time counting up how many of each type of question they got, keeping track (which I find personally to be a HUGE distraction from what you are supposed to be doing, which is focusing 100% on the TEST). And in the end, NONE of that matters.

People pass with tons of SATA, with NO SATA. With tons of math, with no math. Means nothing.

As for the PVT it's not that it "works" or "doesn't work" an hour after the test, it's that whatever pop up you got is UTTERLY MEANINGLESS.

The exam is scored two times. Once immediately upon closing the test, which is why it stopped where it did. And once more as a QA measure at some point during the next 24 hours. Doing the PVT at one hour post test means only that the first scoring was done, but certainly not the second.

When people say "it worked an hour after the test", what I'm hearing is that they were fortunate enough to have BOTH sets of scores match.Enough people have posted about getting the 'good pop up' that became an actual charge when they attempted the PVT later to tell us that it is not only futile, but something that increases anxiety, NOT decreases it. They weren't any wiser by doing the PVT early; by doing it at all there is a risk for a test charge and by doing it multiple times....well, you do the math!

Read a bunch of forums where people did it shortly after and it still worked.. Still working today when I tried again.

I understand what you are saying. It was my first time so I was probably reading too many forums about the trick anyway. But I'm not celebrating by any means, I am waiting for my unofficial results before I jump for joy. I don't like getting ahead of myself or counting my chickens before they hatch lol

Ah, yes, I do understand. However, there have been more frequent incidences of 'test' charges being made by Pearson Vue; someone who passes the exam but enters their card info might still get the 'bad pop up'. Either because the card was valid and it TOOK the money being offered, or the card was invalid, and when the 'test' charge was made, the card was declined. In which case the person playing with it would get a pop up telling them to contact their bank, etc etc. In both cases, the person believes they failed; in the first example they are also out $$.

It's happened enough times to make me really, REALLY caution anyone against doing this :( And every single time you repeat the PVT, you run the risk of it taking your money, REGARDLESS of your pass/fail status. Doesn't seem worth it, to me.

It's not that it 'works' or 'doesn't work', it's that it isn't anything that seems to calm anxiety! Let's face it, if you got the charge, bad pop up, you'd be really upset, right? And then you'd find out you passed....and have all that freaking worry for nothing.

But....people will do what they're gonna do, lol, best we can do is warn 'em! ;)

BTW I just got my results, I PASSED!!

Congratulations!

Thanks! I still can't believe it, I'm so excited!

Your patience with answering this question is ASTOUNDING!! Of your 8,958 posts I swear 6,591 of them are about Pearson Vue.

I had 78 questions, drove one hour home, and thought what the heck I'm going to check the state website to see if I have a license number yet. I know far fetched but I was super excited, but I did! I'm in Indiana by way.

I know, I checked my board of nursing website in FL and my license number was posted in less than 24 hours! They must of not been too busy or something but hey! I didn't have to pay for quick results! Lol congrats to u as well

HA! Not sure if your comment is flattering or makes me sound pathetic, LOL.....but yes, I do try to keep students/new grads from jumping off the edge into an abyss if I can help it. Sometimes they are their own worst enemies; I swear if some were told "your closest loved ones will DIE if you do the PVT" they will STILL do it! And still do it incorrectly, so their loved ones will be dead for no reason ;)

Sometimes I get frustrated when I give clear details, clear info and ONE or TWO posts later on the same thread someone asks the question to the very answer I just gave. And sometimes my answer will be a little on the "less patient" side (which usually earns me a "you're so mean, so rude, so unhelpful" from someone snarky).....but overall, I really do try to help. So thank you. :) (and NO, it's not that much on PVT, lol, although lately is sure seems that way!)
