I recently applied to Excelsior College for the ADN program. They called today to let me know that my LPN license has been verified and accepted. I'm so excited to move forward! I've been contemplating on going back to school for years. A little background about myself. LPN of 8 yrs. Mostly LTC experience. I have two kids. 10yr old and 8 month old. Work only weekends. This program seems perfect for me, seeing that I am extremely motivated. I requested my transcripts from previous colleges attended a few days ago. I'm sure they'll take a while with the holidays but was wondering when they finally do get the transcripts, how long does it take for them to let you know what pre reqs are needed? Is there anything I can do to advance in the program while waiting? I thought about taking info lit through Tor college if Excelsior gives the ok. Anybody else just getting there foot in the door?
Yes there still is the annual enrollment fee. But I think you can still take the Microbiology, A&P and Transition to the Professional Nurse Role before you enroll 😊 One thing that has changed since I enrolled in 2013 is that LPNs no longer get an excemption for the Health Difference exam (the one focused on nutrition) 😞
They changed it, we can't take any nursing classes with out core requirements first but I spoke with someone from the college a few weeks ago and they told me that health differences was waived for LPNs who passed nclex within 5 yrs prior to enrollment. I passed in 08 so I guess I do have to take it ugh
Thank you! Happy New Year to you as well. I guess I have to start saving up too. I'm was looking over the tuition and fees and saw that they charge $490 per credit hr for the multi source opt as well. I don't know how I missed that. I thought you just paid enrollment fee, exam+ site sitting fee, books, supplies, etc so if a class is 3 credits, you're paying $1470 + fee of exam etc?? I'm gonna need all the help I can get
I took the time to sum up everything I might have to take as far as courses are concerned and summing it ALL up including prerequisites it will be a little over $10,000, not that bad. It's almost the same amount as a traditional college. Keep in mind that there are scholarships too. Well keep me posted as to your start date, maybe you and I can study together if of course we take the same course.

That sounds right on the $$$. That price still beats the other "online" LPN/RT/Paremedic to RN schools I've researched. The cheapest one I saw was $330/credit @ 100 credits to complete ASN thats $33,000!!! Best of success to you both SuperAnnurse and NurseNme:):):)
