Just took the exam.. went to 265 ?'s :-(

Don't be discouraged...I will say a prayer for you..The thing with NCLEX is it can go either way....I take mine soon...so I will be in your shoes in a few weeks..keep us posted...and Good luck!!

Well.. just took the exam... it went to 265 questions. I am thinking I definately failed. I was guessing alot.. i had a ton of med questions (no calculations though which are cake), alot of disease process (like 20 ?'s on TB), and alot or prioritization. I found the test to be harder than the CAT review or the kaplan review. I'm pretty discouraged right now, I know the official results wont be available for 2 days, but I'm just going with the gut feeling right now. Good luck to everyone else taking them! STUDY!!!

I've heard of LOTS of people passing at 265. My friend who I just graduated with did. Everyone feels like they failed because the better you do, the harder the questions. Hang in there and check the PV website on friday around 8 am. Even if you do fail, you'll know a lot more about what to study for next time. I'll pray for you, hang in there! You've come this far.

For those of you that have taken and will take the Exam this year how did you make it there was the road long and hard as I hear it is

I think the worst of it is writing care plans and getting up at unreal hours for clinicals. It depends on the school you are attending. I went to a small christian school and we were like a little family, and to be honest, the people you will be with in school will be your best friends. You'll see each other at your best and at your worst. Good nursing schools make sure you are prepared to take boards, and they should make sure you know that the road to becoming a professional does not end at graduation and no one expects you to just be a student one day and an expert the next. You'll have a great time, and it'll go faster than you think. I just found out today that I passed boards, and it seems like just yesterday I was in fundamentals. Write me anytime you need some encouragement! Good luck in school.

A percentage of those taking the test will be given more questions...that helps to validate the test. Hard for the person though. I was in the BETA TEST group for the first computer testing in 1993. We were told that the test would take several hours and about 500 questions. When the computer stopped at 76 questions, I almost died. I was so upset I left my purse in the locker and was sitting outside crying, trying to think how I was going to let my husband know, I had failed. I also was trying to understand what had happened, since they only chose the best students to volunteer for the BETA TEST. Back then boards were paper and pencil and took two days.

When I got home, I called the other nurses who had also taken the computer exam. They were going through similiar upset and had all finished early. We contacted the BETA TESTING Site managers and they assured us that everything was OK, that only a few would be taking a longer version of the test. OF COURSE, we PASSED. But what a week.

Congradulations :balloons: :balloons:Thanks for the encourgement I will be going to a community school not sure what time clinicals with be but it has to done I guess I just am not sure I'm making the right decesion on quiting my job of 10yrs (Inside Sales Correspondent) to hopefully become a nurse I commend anyone who does this ....good luck and take care :)

I am in my final semester of the Rn program at a communiity colllege. There will be times when you feel overwhelmed but you can make it. Just take it one step at a time and don't look too far ahead. The time will fly and you will be graduating in no time. I can't believe how fast these last two years have gone.

Hi Maggie,

No luckily enough I didn't have to work and I have no children. I am 46 (for two more months... :) ) and my husband has a decent job. But I also took out all the loans I could. I would say I could have easily worked the first semester, second semester it would have been harder, 3rd semester (summer) I probably should have worked but I was busy with family members (sick aunt, grandbaby, feeling ignored husband...*snicker*..ect ect...) 4th semester I could have worked some but I wouldn't plan over 20 hours tops....last semester, they say it is best not to work at all (I will know more in a few months). I should also tell you that I am an EMT-B and had some basic knowledge to start with. I have gotten straight A's until last semester when I missed my A by .o7% :crying2: I know most of the people in my class only work parttime. I know one girl who was working 30 hours and didn't pass last semester. What this all boils down to....if you can afford not to work.....don't.....if you have to work...work as little as possible....esp the last semester or two. This is based on my experience, your community college could be different, you might be younger and have more energy . Oh and if you have anxiety problems, start from the beginning learning ways to relax....this is crucial!!!
