Just a simple request :)

As I've read the board, we've spoken a lot about things like pay in 'our area', or traffic, or things that are very localized.

Problem is, in the poster's profile, they don't have their state listed!

I don't imagine it's a security concern (just don't mention the city or anything), but anywho, just wanted to see if anyone else out there shared my frustration ;)

I love the discussions but sometimes it's very hard to get the full value of your posts in a thread about salaries, etc. because you could be in NY or the boondocks!

Hopefully I haven't offended anyone :o

I agree with GilbertDaddy. If you are asking relevent to your area you should, either post it only in your state forum or say where you are from. I have gotten into the habit of looking at the thingy up top that outlines where the posts are, but occasionally you will find one that's in the general area. then when you reply and say, for example, "Here in Wisconsin" you run the risk of getting chewed up and spit out with someone hitting you with "Well, I'm not from Wisconsin etc, etc" This happened to me, quite scathingly, once when I was a member a couple of years ago and I left for a while. Then I decided I wouldn't let a few grouches chase me off what was a very informative site and I came back.

Anyhoo, I say if they want to know the way things are in their area, they should put the area. That or don't ask at all.

When I first started out here, I realized very early on that it might not be a great idea to have my location stated. In my first few posts on here, I did have my location listed; however, when I saw a thread on here in which someone took a poster's statements out of context, printed them out and then proceeded to hang them on the bulletin board where they both worked, I decided it might not be a great idea to have my location listed. Although I'm not a nurse, I do work with patients directly in a hospital. I work very closely with the nurses and occasionally, I may need to vent something. Granted, this happens rarely because we do have a great group of nurses where I work.

Now, it's not a great secret where my location is, I do post in the state discussion rooms sometimes. I just generally don't state where I'm located in the general discussion rooms.

This is just me though, I'm sure there are a few others on here who feel the same way, but I don't know where they are from... :p

I agree.

I've had several PMs from people asking where i work, , and then, not only are they using their real name in their sig line, they have a picture of themselves in their avatar or profile, AND their actual town and state listed.

Whether or not someone talks about things on the job on here is half the problem. It's just not safe, in general, to put any of that on the internet.

Especialy, when in one of those PMs, it took less than a minute to figure out what hospital someone worked (small town, only one hospital) at and who their DON was in their dept., and this person has complained about their job, and certain peopel on the job, including the DON. Would i print what they say out and mail it to the DON, no i wouldn't, but heck they don't know that, and who's to say someone else wouldn't?

And i hope that person reads this.
