is it just me or does it seem like more students are passing the CPNE?

Have they changed something?

Not sure.

I know when I tested there were 4 of us (I was a first time tester, the other 3 were 2nd time testers).

Another student and I passed (no repeated PCS) when I left Sunday morning, one had failed and the 4th student had to pass both PCS to pass.

So either a 50% or 75% pass depending on the last student, and the fact that the other 3 had already failed once does not sound like it is any easier.

Maybe people are just studying more or those that pass are posting they passed and those that fail don't post?

I was actually wondering the same thing. 6 of the 7 of us were still in it this past Sunday morning. I'm not sure how many ended up passing though. As soon as I passed my third PCS I got out of there as fast as I could. The test itself was a lot simpler than I thought it would be. Maybe they needed to increase the pass rate. Or maybe we were all just really prepared. Who knows. Just study that study guide and do your best.

This is why trying to determine pass rates based on what people post about or we experience ourselves is sketchy at best. If you think about it, there are probably at least 70-80 students who test each weekend across all sites, and we hear from a very small percentage of those, either way. Just try to focus on being positive about your own experience. :-)

Congrats medic625!

AWESOME!!!! CONGRATULATIONS, Medic625!!!!!!!! :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

Guess I was just hoping that something had changed, that they are changing the exam to become somewhat more reasonable...yeah right!

Don't second guess yourself!!! It's not that bad. Im sure you'll do fine if you keep on studying until you test. Good luck.

Thanks Medic. Working on documentation today:-)

Good advice Lunaha. I'm still doing FCCA and I'm already stressed over the thought of CPNE, I read too much I think and I'm a bit of a worrier. In my last profession it served me well ha ha.

I know EC is now offering actual academic classes, it would be nice if they offered actual clinical rotations, I'd go for that. I have limited nursing experience, recent LPN grad in a career change, mostly a Mr Mom now.

Have considered after passing FCCA (doing both this summer) to try and get a full time LPN job for some months to get more experience but then again if it interferes with my CPNE study it could be counter productive.

Truthfully, that might be counter productive. You have to learn things the Excelsior way, and if you start a new job, your learning it their way.

When I did my CPNE, one of the other students was a 15 yr LPN who literally ran a surgical center. She had failed the CPNE already and failed again. In talking to her, she had major problems letting go of the way she had been doing things for so long that doing it the Excelsior way was very hard for her.

Now a few months working a new job is not a long time, but since your just starting, you have to learn how they want you to do it where you work, while at the same time possibly learning a different way for Excelsior.

Thanks nalon1, you're probably right, I would have no time for study or work shops and the EC way is the only way of course.
