a pleasant day to all... i'm just new here and wondering if any one could help me.

i'm currently pursuing my m.a. degree and now working on my thesis proposal.

can any one help me refine my thesis title??????

title: feasibility (pros and cons) of the che nursing technical board's proposed amendment to the nursing curriculum to make it a five-year course.

and also, could any one tell me where i can get the exact article about this? please??

I think learning how to access articles is part of being a grad student. Was this a topic you thought of, or one you were given to investigate?

you really don't need "pros and cons" since that's part of any feasibility study. is there more than one proposed nursing curriculum change other than the five yr one? if not, you might leave out reference to five year course.

i'd find out what resources there were before i selected a proposal!

Zenman is right: when I did my master's degree, I chose the topic based on the research available. Since it was such a major part of my grade, I wanted to ensure I had enough research to support my topic.

Yes, I agree, that is the entire purpose of being a grad student is to be able to choose your own topic and do your own research.

My advice would be to go ahead and start your research, and if you find out the information you are getting is too overwhelming, then THAT will lead you to how you need to narrow down your topic.

Right now you don't even know which direction to go because it doesn't appear you have started the research yet.

Thanks guys, seems to me you are all well experienced when it comes to thesis building.

In truth, I'm a newly grad, with only a year of clinical experience and is not yet very much familiar with situations like this...

I was hoping you could any one help me get "on Track" of things ...

I badly need a mentor on the matter of Thesis Writing...:crying2:

Hmm.. well I enlisted some topics and my thesis advisor was the one who decided which one I'll work on... and that was the topic she approved.

But as I think of it now, this one's a bit complicated... tried narrowing it down but i think I'm still not getting things in order... Pre-Orals' on December 17.... I should be able to submit up to chapter III of my thesis yet I'm stock with my thesis title and statement of the problem....:uhoh21:

CAn you help me please?

Yeah, I have seen my mistake there... I disregarded the fact that this is such a new issue in my country and that I could have a problem finding resources...

Do you think I have to change topic???

Too bad I have limited background and expertise on these matters.

What could you suggest i do now?

If I were you, I would:

1. Think of a topic that interests me.

2. Do a literature search to see how many relevant resources are available

3. Go to my advisor with a new subject (as soon as possible) and explain why it is a better choice for me.

It sounds to me like you are in a difficult situation. First of all, does your school have written guidelines? It seems your advisor is asking you to do something that you didn't really expect.

What kinds of resources can you access? Specifically, do you have access to online data bases? If so, you will have to search under different combinations of keywords to find what you want. The education literature on curriculum development might be very useful. (If you don't have access to online data bases, what are you using to obtain resources?) You might also find some good leads if you research the history of nursing education. You are the best judge, of course, but I suspect you may have to pursue some version of the topic your advisor is committed to.

You seem to have a really short deadline for chapters 1-3. Could your advisor be asking for a proposal in that time frame? These would later turn into Chapters 1-3.
