Just finished taking NCLEX...

Published

I just finished taking my test & I had 75 questions. This was my 3rd time taking it. I don't know how I feel about it. I had at least 5-7 select all that apply, no math, a couple of meds & TONS of priority, 2 delegation questions two pediatrics questions, 2-3 external disaster questions, & basic lab questions.

The first time I took the test I had 75 & obviously we all know what happened there, the second time I had 265 questions. With each time, I'm a little more prepared. I do tend to procrastinate though, which I hate.

I would suggest doing practice questions & knowing patho.

I was getting bummed because I talked to a former classmate to tell him my test breakdown, & he said, "Oh no, if you got a lot of select all that apply questions, is that good or bad?" I told him that I didn't know. Then he said, "I talked to so-and-so & she said she got a lot of those, & she failed. I think they keep giving them if you keep messing them up." That wasn't what I needed to hear. Now the waiting game begins.

I also had at least 5-7 select all that apply questions, shut off at 75, and I passed! Good luck!

Hi pie 123! Thanks for letting us know what types of questions you got on your NCLEX. I'm crossing my fingers for you!! :) I heard that it's just a myth that they give you multiple numbers of the same type of question because you're getting them wrong. I think if you got that many select all that apply, it means the opposite: they are a harder level of question and you got a lot of them cuz you were doing so well on the exam! That is what I think! :) Let us know when you find out the results!!

Thank you. I had originally heard the same thing about the select all that apply questions. After my test, I ran into a girl who had just finished hers, she had 86 questions, & had just graduated from my former college in May. She said that the select all that apply questions were now a part of the test, & didn't mean that one was necessarily doing well on the test. I don't know! I do not like this feeling...at all! Thank you for your kind words :) If I drank, I would get so messed up tonight that I wouldn't even know my own name! But unfortunately, I don't. Plus, I guess it wouldn't be very good to go into work wasted :uhoh21:

Oh...I am holding out hope that I have the same luck! Thanks!

the waiting is so sucky.......I will have my fingers crossed for you..... :)

GOOOOOD LUCK in your future.......................

Have Hope, Okay? I also had 75 questions, and my format was VERY similar to yours. The fact that you had priority questions is a good sign. Those are high-level questions. The waiting is agony, believe me, I know. I just found out that I passed yesterday at 2:00 pm. Let us know when you find out!!

Hey everyone~ I took NCLEX today too and it shut off at 75! I actually feel kinda confident 'cause there weren't many I couldn't narrow down at all and I've been reviewing the one's I can remember and I seem to have gotten a lot of them right! The breakdown of mine from what I can remember was 3 or 4 select all that apply, 1 fill in the blank, 3 for delegating to nurses from other units, no LPN/UAP delegation, 2 infant development, 2 toddler/children's development, 1 OB, a handful of mental health, 1 therapeutic communication, a couple of patho related specifically to elderly, a lot of precautions (i.e. airborne, contact, etc), a lot of priority, and about 3 pharm. Hope that helps! Now it's just the waiting game for results!!!

I just took my boards in Nebraska and I had around 90 questions (was trying to not concentrate on numbers) and it took me about 2 and half hours. After it got to 75 it didn't shut off I had a buttload of priority questions. I don't know if thats good or bad..but I can't say whether I got any of them right. I think there was only two questions in the whole thing that I know for sure I did good on. SOOO..what do you do while you wait so that you don't pull your hair out? (besides drinking..want to do it but know I will get too emotional)

good luck to all of you,

Christi

Hey, don't worry. Priority questions are a very good sign because they are high level. This is not one of those tests that you can say "Oh, I know I got this one right or wrong." Also, 90 questions is not a lot! If you graduated nursing school, then you have the knowledge. Just let it go and trust God that His plan will happen perfectly. There is nothing you can do but wait. A word to the wise, GO DO SOMETHING! Do NOT sit in your house and wait around. That will just make you miserable. God bless you!
