June 2010 CRNE Results

World Canada CRNE

Published

I don't want to start the posts too early, but I was just wondering if anyone knew how long it is actually supposed to take to get results this year. I know that some people I worked with last summer got theirs in early-mid July. I checked out the CNO website and the CNA website (and a few others along the way) one says 8-12 weeks and the other says 4-6. I'm already driving myself crazy...if I have to wait another 8+ weeks I'll end up really going off the deep end :uhoh3:

thanks lyne.......

is there any on e in ontario who got their result and pass...................i feet so stressed...........

Did ANYONE in Ontario get GOOD news?

So sorry for those who were unsuccessful. There is nothing anyone can say to make it feel any better. I have not yet received my results and am sickened by your reports.

I was rushed in the exam and am afraid to see my results. I was discussing this with my unit manager who openly told me that she was unsuccessful in her first attempt. She emphasized that "there is life after failing that exam ~ I think I am a good nurse and after failing the exam I went on to nurse in ER and Critical Care, teach, and now manage". She also went on to say that she believes there is a reason for everything. The summer that she failed she went into hiding and spent the summer with her grandparents at their cottage. It turns out that was the last summer they were alive so she was actually grateful for the experience".

Also heard a story about a pediatric Doctor who failed her first licensing exam due to anxiety. When writing the second time she scored a near perfect and was honored for her achievement and is now one of the most respected in her field.

I hope this helps those who got bad news take it a bit less personaly. Nursing is NOT about writing tests. You can be a GREAT nurse and a BAD test taker.

Thanks you JWB for your these supporting words....May you receive your result in pass and nver go through all this which failure makes you go through....But I know this too shall pass......

There are some other discussions on this site about prep courses that might help, here's a link to one that I found https://allnurses.com/canadian-nurses/looking-canadian-rn-331070.html.

I'm so sorry to hear about everyone who hasn't been successful this time around, I found it to be a very difficult exam and a time crunch. I really hope the next time around you get the pass you deserve.

Sorry to hear of people failing, with perseverance and determination I am sure you will make it next time.

Sorry to those of you that have failed the exam. It was a hard exam from what I am gathering from people. I found it to be not to bad. I had five minutes left. I am in Toronto and awaiting news. This waiting game is really trying my patience for sure. Congrats to you all that have passed!!

JW2b, thank you for that small dose of reason.

My sympathies to those people who didn't pass this time around. Here's a quick link to my advice that was posted on page 15 of this thread. Also, it was Amazon.ca where I bought all those textbooks, not Amazon.com. Whoops.

I think all the CRNE textbooks prepared me well because I did tons of practice questions. Did I get them all right? Nope. I think during one chapter in the Lippincott's CRNE Prep Guide I got 60% or so and I was wondering what I was doing wrong! I think the Mosby's Comprehensive Review for the Canadian RN Exam was awesome. It summarized everything into one handy book with chapters like "Pharmacology and Nursing Practice", "Pediatric Nursing", "Maternal-Newborn Nursing", etc. I didn't have to run around and flip through other textbooks, everything was right there.

Of course, a lot of my friends just bought the CRNE prep guide 5th edition and they did fine. If you feel that your notes/textbooks are fantastic and you don't want to spend all that money on CRNE textbooks, it's up to you. For myself, those practice questions were very handy and it definitely prepared my mind.

Remember, it's not possible to study/memorize every diagnosis or every medication. Stay calm, do your best and take breaks when studying.

Similar feelings. I took the exam first time this June, but I do not think I have passed it. Questions were - how should I put it? - Unrecognizable. School program content is one thing, CNO exam -is the other. Do not rush into the third attempt; it will be your last one. It makes sense to find out what is wrong with this exam. Because all CNA prep guides and Mosby books are good for nothing in preparation.

Hold out hon; this is not the end of the world. Feeling for you. Mentally with you.

thanks a lot
