JTCC fall 2011 acceptance

U.S.A. Virginia

Good afternoon! I applied to John Tyler community college's nursing program for fall 2011, back in the beginning of February. I am so nervous about finding out if I was accepted, but I am becoming more and more impatient everyday when the letter is not in the mail. Does anyone know when I should find out?? Please and thank you! Best of luck to everyone!

Congratulations to all of you on your success!! I'm just being nosey(and you don't have to tell if you don't want), but were you all 4.0? I've been hearing stories about anyone without a 4.0 not being accepted, and I am a 3.6 applying at the end of the summer. So, as you can guess, my nerves are destroyed. Any info is helpful. Thanks!

I was 4.0 and still stressed LOL! However, the GPAs that are accepted change from each semester, they take the top however many slots they have. So say they have 100 slots, they take the top 100 GPA's that meet all the other requirements. Could be 50 4.0 students and then down from there, could be 25 4.0 students and then the rest. Best of luck to you!

I also had a 3.6, so stressed about getting in since I did not have a 4.0 Luckily I did make it in though, so I'm sure you will too!!

Late to the thread but had to say i got in as well! I will be doing the HDEP program! Just stumbled onto this site its great to see fellow classmates here going to make it that much more fun!

Hi everyone!

I got in too with out a 4.0. I had a 3.987.

I'm in the hybrid program and I looking forward to a study group.

(moderator edit of name) just posted grades today from my 142 online class, agree she was awesome!

Im thinking of starting a FB group for Fall 2011 students. Anyone interested?

Just as a reminder, it is a violation of the allnurses Terms of Service (TOS) to post staff or faculty names. I've edited a couple posts. Thanks.

Hi Sarakaut,

FB sounds like a good idea but in the orientation one of the nursing instructors spoke out against it because pics and other stuff were posted without the instructors knowledge. Maybe with some guide lines they might be more receptive to the idea.

I was hoping for a study group for projects, research and exams. I do fine studying by myself but I thought that we could encourage one another and work together. I am hoping that I can find at least one person that is not too far from my area.clock.png

I was hoping to get a study group set up for one night during the week (maybe Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday) and one on Saturdays. The library on the Chesterfield campus is a good place to get a group together.

Any HDEP students will already have boards that they can post stuff on the Blackboard site. I do think the FB would be a good idea, but I would worry about the pics and other items.

I'm one of the eight or so male students who were accepted for Fall '11. I'm stoked, I can't wait to start. I'm glad to see so many other people on here from JTCC.

I'd be interested in a study group, and I have probably 3-5 other friends who will want a group as well.

Has anyone started getting supplies yet? Buford Road Pharmacy has a great selection of Stethoscopes and good quality sphygmomanometers. I picked up 3 scopes today - a really good quality one (while still staying under $100), a mid-quality, and a meh quality that was packed with the cuff. Total ~$150.

As for Facebook, yeah, we were suggested to stay away from FB groups, but we could possibly set up a Google group or BB group in August.

I got shoes, but that is it for now. I did find out that All Med Express gives a 10% discount for us. They special order the pants (Landau), but one pair (cargos) was only $14.99 before the discount. That was alot cheeper than online.

I have gotten all the dr's appts out of the way, so I am clear there. I also got my BSL taken care of. I think I am going to order my uniforms in June (going for 2 tops and bottoms). I wish we could start buying the books, so it is not such a huge amount all at once.

Anyone else have tips on where to buy stuff?
