JTCC fall 2011 acceptance

U.S.A. Virginia

Good afternoon! I applied to John Tyler community college's nursing program for fall 2011, back in the beginning of February. I am so nervous about finding out if I was accepted, but I am becoming more and more impatient everyday when the letter is not in the mail. Does anyone know when I should find out?? Please and thank you! Best of luck to everyone!

What pants did you get? We have to get those through meridys, don't we?

You have to get the tops through Meridys, but the pants just have to be Landau color code RWP. Some sites call it Wine and others burgundy. I tried on the cargo pants with elastic back waist band and drawstring front. They say you can get any brand pant, but it has to match the color. The Landau pants are not that bad , price wise, so I would just stick with that brand.

You can go to http://www.landau.com. If you choose the violet color it will show you the styles that come in the color we need. The guy at All Med Express told me that they can order any style that you want, but recommended ordering by July to make sure you had time to return or exchange if there was an issue.

Awesome, thanks cfle!

Definitely checking out All Med to try on the pants, thanks for the head's up! Just scheduled all of my dr appts today, checking to see if my insurance company will pay for them to run titers on my bloodwork since I know I have had the chicken pox but cant prove it lol. If they wont, looks like that is another thing Im getting vax'd for!

Also, good point about FB. Gotta remember not everyone uses their best judgement when posting there. Blackboard will work well for groups.

Hi cfleharty,

I'm glad that you are getting a study group together. From what I am hearing, study groups can be very helpful when dividing up chapter objectives and such.

I'm going to try to find one a little closer to Amelia and I may need to just form one out here.

How many of you are in the HDEP program? It looks like I'll still be traveling to the school 4 days a week :-( .

I'm getting ready to have the physical. For those of you who have had it does the Dr. check all those boxes for functional abilities? Also, do we females also need to get a pelvic exam?

Im HDEP (and was surprised a little at how many days we will be on campus from the start!) and while Im interested in a study group I will probably wait until we are into classes a little bit so I can find some students who are similar to me as far as study habits/goals.

As for the physical, the dr will probably just make a line through all of the boxes, I don't think they will manually check/screen you for each one. No pelvic exam for women.

Thank you Sarakaut for your helpful response about the physicals.:)

I was thinking of applying to JTCC for SPRING 2012, ya'll said you were accepted? What was your GPA? I was just wondering what the drop off GPA usually is?

You may be able to call and ask, I know students from earlier classes have been told from semester to semester. I had a 4.0. It does vary from semester to semester, they take the highest GPAs for the number of seats they have. If there are 90 spots they take the 90 highest. Some semesters that may go to a 3.6, some it may be a 3.8. Just depends on who applied!

Good luck!

Also, make sure you know the changing pre-reg guidelines...

I most likely had one of the lowest GPA of our Fall 2011 class. With my transfer classes I had a 3.33 GPA. Without my classes outside the VCCS system, I had a 3.67 GPA. Now the only classes I have left to take are my nursing courses. :yeah:

So you got accepted with a 3.3 into the nursing program?

That is the GPA that I calculated on my admission forms. Over the last 3 semesters it has ranged from a 3.2 to a 3.8 as the lowest GPA. It all depends on the number of applicants and their GPA.
