Johns Hopkins University BSN/MSN Fall 2011

Published

Greetings Everyone!

I know this is early to make a thread for the Fall 2011 Hopkins Applicants! But still, it is better to start getting ready than waiting at the last minute! I highly suggest everyone start getting your letters of recommendations, and just hide it until you are ready to apply. I will be applying and submitting my application around September 2010 as an early decision applicant for Fall 2011.

I have to finish up Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Developmental Psychology, and one more chemistry class this coming Summer 2010. During the Fall of 2010 and Spring 2011, I will be finishing up just general requirements like history, Microbiology, English Composition, Statistics, some foreign languages, and humanities (elective classes).

I will be applying for the BSN Traditional Program considering I do not have a degree, thus, I am not qualified to apply for the accelerated program. I'm really excited about this.

I will only be applying to UPenn and Johns Hopkins University for my BSN traditional program. If I do not get accepted, I will be attending my current university's school of nursing. I am already in the university's nursing program, but I don't start clinical preceptorship until 2 years from now.

I will graduate May 2013 regardless where I go. Either JHU or UPenn or stay at my current university.

If I will be accepted at either JHU or UPenn, then definitely I will be attending those schools! I love nursing research, and I want to learn more about research and providing quality care to our patients.

We will see how it will go. I have six months until I submit my application to both schools. Remember time is running fast.

Hope everyone are doing well on their pre-requisites! Good luck to all!

Feel free to post around so we can help each other for Fall 2011! I've read the thread for the JHU Fall 2010. I've noticed everyone in that thread got accepted, and some waitlisted! Its a good sign!

Have a wonderful day!

I have my interview on Wednesday! I'm interviewing for the BSN/MSN Nurse-Midwifery track, anyone else applying for midwifery?

When I originally talked to admissions they said that for midwifery I interview with faculty from both Hopkins and Shannendoah, which is the other university involved in the midwifery program. Has anyone else done this yet?

I'm a little nervous, but I'm glad to hear that it's more of a conversation. Anyone know what their acceptance rate for that program is? It seems like the more I research the more I'm convinced that I won't get in anywhere, I had no idea how competitive these programs are. Where else are people applying?

Hi folks. I have applied to the ED traditional BSN/MSN Nurse-Midwifery track. I am currently a PCV serving in Malawi Africa. I will have my interview soon with a faculty member, it's pretty nerve racking especially since I have unreliable phone service. I couldn't even set up the interview by phone; got cut off and had to do it by email. So the faculty will be calling soon. Thanks to everyone who posted information about the interview. It helps to think of it as a conversation, we are good at that, right! Good luck to everyone, I honestly feel more nervous after reading through this thread. JHU is the only school I'm applying to, putting all the eggs in one basket so to speak. But it's the perfect program for me, so let's just hope the universe agrees! Can't wait for the interview to be over, and then just the delightful waiting period. Just happy I've been able to get everything done from here. Small pleasures. Best of luck to all!

Hi,

I just got back from my interview. They asked me all the questions that Cartwheel and PHL previously mentioned, too. And yes it was much more of a conversation. Baltimore and the campus were beautiful - overall I really liked the city!! Now we have the waiting period... 3 weeks! ugh... good luck everyone!!

Is anyone applying just for the BSN? Have you heard back from Johns Hopkins? Any idea when we'll know?

Hey All -

For those of us who applied ED, we're getting close. How is everyone feeling? As anxious as I am?

I'm trying to block it out of my mind. I haven't heard anything from them & trying not to call them with redundant questions. I am applying for the regular BSN and am wondering if those applicants get a letter or a phone call?

Hey Mamaliga -

According to last year's thread, they started making phone calls for regular decision late January/early February. Fingers crossed!

We are getting close!!! I am so anxious I try not to think about it too much. I have finals this week in Microbio and Anatomy/Phys so at least that is occupying my mind a bit. But still... this is so hard. fingers crossed for everyone!

I'm waiting for the ED BSN decisions, too. Argh! Finished my finals yesterday, so now it's ten times worse! Good luck to all.

Hey guys,

I'm in the ABSN right now and I applied ED, you guys should hear back hopefully next week, and they should continue to make calls after Christmas. Good luck on finals everyone...we just had our last one today!

Congrats on getting through finals, chava & jnak! I have one tomorrow and another next Tuesday. Really trying to focus on studying and not obsessing about JHU decisions...

Has anyone heard anything?? I thought maybe there would be some calls to someone out there this afternoon - but seeing that it is almost 5pm in MD maybe they are waiting until next week... :(
