Greetings Everyone!
I know this is early to make a thread for the Fall 2011 Hopkins Applicants! But still, it is better to start getting ready than waiting at the last minute! I highly suggest everyone start getting your letters of recommendations, and just hide it until you are ready to apply. I will be applying and submitting my application around September 2010 as an early decision applicant for Fall 2011.
I have to finish up Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Developmental Psychology, and one more chemistry class this coming Summer 2010. During the Fall of 2010 and Spring 2011, I will be finishing up just general requirements like history, Microbiology, English Composition, Statistics, some foreign languages, and humanities (elective classes).
I will be applying for the BSN Traditional Program considering I do not have a degree, thus, I am not qualified to apply for the accelerated program. I'm really excited about this.
I will only be applying to UPenn and Johns Hopkins University for my BSN traditional program. If I do not get accepted, I will be attending my current university's school of nursing. I am already in the university's nursing program, but I don't start clinical preceptorship until 2 years from now.
I will graduate May 2013 regardless where I go. Either JHU or UPenn or stay at my current university.
If I will be accepted at either JHU or UPenn, then definitely I will be attending those schools! I love nursing research, and I want to learn more about research and providing quality care to our patients.
We will see how it will go. I have six months until I submit my application to both schools. Remember time is running fast.
Hope everyone are doing well on their pre-requisites! Good luck to all!
Feel free to post around so we can help each other for Fall 2011! I've read the thread for the JHU Fall 2010. I've noticed everyone in that thread got accepted, and some waitlisted! Its a good sign!
Have a wonderful day!

hey guys--
i've been admitted to the absn/msn program and am very excited, although i'm sure like everyone else, i'm very anxious to hear about financial aid. unfortunately, i missed accepted students day and was wondering if they talked about how likely people were to receive the school of nursing grants (which i think were between 5k-16k?). any information would be greatly appreciated. i am anxious to put my deposit down, but would like to have some idea of financial aid. thanks!
For those of you still waiting to hear from admissions, I had not heard anything from admissions until today! I was told I was waitlisted for the accelerated and offered a spot in the traditional program. I will accept the traditional since there is no way to know my rank on the waitlist. I am very excited!
Good luck to those who are still waiting!
sunny california,
I received the same call today!!! I am unsure as to whether I want to accept the traditional program. Meagan, the woman who called me, said it is difficult to rely on the waitlist because there is no way of knowing until school starts. Were you able to find out what number on the waitlist you are?
hi everyone. I was admitted to the ABSN but, like many of you, am still awaiting word on the MSN. Does anyone else out there think it's pretty crazy that we are being given so little notice on the MSN, considering that the ABSN starts in late May? It seems like (1) very little time to decide whether to put the deposit down on the ABSN, once we know whether we're in for the MSN, and (2) very little time to uproot our lives and move (in my case cross-country) to start the ABSN.
I am much less interested in attending the program if I am only admitted to the ABSN. I applied for a joint degree ABSN/MSN program, and feel I need to know my status on both portions of the program before I can make a decision as to whether to attend. The way that JHU has managed the admissions process in this regard has been a little disappointing.
Anxious, I've heard that Hopkins is trying to see how many clinical spots they can garauntee for their students, and this uncertainty is responsible for the delay. The other nursing schools have also experienced this tightening given the economy and regulatory regime, but have opted more for an admit now and hope for the best later approach. If what I heard is true, Hopkins is being more responsible from a placement perspective, or irresponsible by underestimating how hard and how early they needed to work with local hospitals or both. If other applicants or students have heard otherwise or have more information, please let all of us know!

Hi SpNar, No. She was not able to tell me where I fall on the waitlist. Good luck with your decision!

Thanks Loraine! I applied for the midwifery specialty. I have accepted a spot at Seattle University's program, and would accept at two schools if I could! It was a tough decision, but best of luck to everyone waiting and with beginning the program!
