Johns Hopkins University BSN/MSN Fall 2011

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Greetings Everyone!

I know this is early to make a thread for the Fall 2011 Hopkins Applicants! But still, it is better to start getting ready than waiting at the last minute! I highly suggest everyone start getting your letters of recommendations, and just hide it until you are ready to apply. I will be applying and submitting my application around September 2010 as an early decision applicant for Fall 2011.

I have to finish up Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Developmental Psychology, and one more chemistry class this coming Summer 2010. During the Fall of 2010 and Spring 2011, I will be finishing up just general requirements like history, Microbiology, English Composition, Statistics, some foreign languages, and humanities (elective classes).

I will be applying for the BSN Traditional Program considering I do not have a degree, thus, I am not qualified to apply for the accelerated program. I'm really excited about this.

I will only be applying to UPenn and Johns Hopkins University for my BSN traditional program. If I do not get accepted, I will be attending my current university's school of nursing. I am already in the university's nursing program, but I don't start clinical preceptorship until 2 years from now.

I will graduate May 2013 regardless where I go. Either JHU or UPenn or stay at my current university.

If I will be accepted at either JHU or UPenn, then definitely I will be attending those schools! I love nursing research, and I want to learn more about research and providing quality care to our patients.

We will see how it will go. I have six months until I submit my application to both schools. Remember time is running fast.

Hope everyone are doing well on their pre-requisites! Good luck to all!

Feel free to post around so we can help each other for Fall 2011! I've read the thread for the JHU Fall 2010. I've noticed everyone in that thread got accepted, and some waitlisted! Its a good sign!

Have a wonderful day!

It has been a long time! My spring semester has almost come to a closed! Yay! Good luck to everyone for end of semester exams.

I will be applying this coming June 2010! Yay! Its fast approaching! =D

Hello Everybody.

I'm posting my first post here since I'm also applying to John Hopkins for Fall 2011. I'm taking the second degree route and I hope to go through the traditional program. I'm either on schedule or behind in my pre-reqs because I still have to take microbiology, anatomy, physiology, and nutrition but I should be able to finish everthing by Fall 2011.

I'm excited though - John Hopkins is the only nursing school that has a Peace Corps fellowship program and this August, I will officially complete my service!!!

Good luck everybody.

Everyone!

Applying for the Fall of 2011 is fast approaching. I wish us all good luck and fortune! =) I am starting the application already.

well, I participated in the prospective student chat. Here's some info I got:

avg gpa: 3.4-3.6 (calculated with ALL transcripts...undergrad, postbacc, prereqs, pretty much all institutions after high school)

For the traditional bsn, around 60% is accepted! I'm not too sure about the absn.

All prereqs should be B or higher. A C is not an automatic rejection but your chances are cut slim.

If you retake a class, both times will be calculated into your gpa. But the school will take note that you took it again for hopefully a better grade.

The merit scholarship is for those with 3.8+gpa and a handful (not sure what that means) of students receive the award. I believe it covers 50% of tuition.

@jiwonkim89: This is GREAT information. That 60% statistic is amazing and gives me a lot of hope! I was originally going to apply to the accelerated, but I don't think I'll get my prereqs completed in time, so I'll be applying to the traditional program.

Have any of you started working on your essays? I'm finishing microbio in a couple of weeks and then I can focus on GRE studying and essay writing.

Yay! :uhoh3:

I've skimmed over the application and the essay questions. I am still in finals week..trying to finish a 20 page paper. I also have my physiology final next thursday. I want to be done with finals and get started on my application darn it!

I am also applying to the traditional program because I learned a great lesson that taking on too many prereqs at one time can risk the learning process and your grade!!!!!! Plus, I will be graduating after the accelerated program starts.

the 60% acceptance for the traditional program really gave me hope too. I think this is also because most people apply to the accelerated program...i could be wrong though.

The GRE is only required for MSN/MPH program btw.

I'm glad I was able to help~

Yes, I'm aware that JHU doesnt require the GRE. That's definitely one of the reasons I'm applying!

The other schools I'll apply to require it. I'll also apply to UCSF, Columbia, & Boston College.

Good luck with finals!

thanks a bunch for finding that info jiwon! the 60% statistic gives me a lot of hope too :D i will also be applying for the traditional program. I really like the idea of having a summer break between the 2 years, so we can work or find an internship.

i'm also gonna start cracking on the GRE next week and aiming to take it by the end of summer at least. I haven't started looking at the essays yet o_o currently finalizing which schools to apply to. where are the rest of you applying? I'll think I'll be sending apps to Duke, JHU, Emory, MGH, NYU, VCU, Georgetown, and George Washington. Do you guys think this too much?

Good luck to those of you finishing!! the last week or so is always the hardest (my mind was literally checked out during my last week of finals) but it's over before you know it. which could be good and bad :p

Anyone already applied?

hey everyone!! I will also be applying to JHU for the fall of 2011. I already have my app completely done just have to submit it in probably August when I get the recommendations from my professors. Has anyone already submitted their app?? Does anyone know if this school has rolling admission or do they only review apps after the deadline?

I'll be applying to JHU traditional early decision for Fall 2011! I'm excited endure through this application process with you all too! I'll be graduating with my B.S. in neuroscience this Spring 2011 and finishing up the last pre-reqs too!

I'll be applying to a couple schools too, such as Emory, U of Wisconsin, Purdue, and Thomas Jeff. U. I just recently decided to go for nursing this month, so this is exciting! I've been an animal nurse/technician for the last 3 years...so that's my only experience in the health industry, but I plan on volunteering at a hospital next month! I'm currently sitting at a 3.5 GPA, in the middle of a paid internship, and have close to 800 service hours. I'm hoping for the best since I do wish my GPA was a bit higher before applying.

I'll be applying very soon...I can't wait!! does anyone suggest any other accredited schools to apply to that don't require any tests? Does anyone know if JHU is rolling admissions? Any other advice before applying?

Best of luck to all!!
