Johns Hopkins University BSN/MSN Fall 2011

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Greetings Everyone!

I know this is early to make a thread for the Fall 2011 Hopkins Applicants! But still, it is better to start getting ready than waiting at the last minute! I highly suggest everyone start getting your letters of recommendations, and just hide it until you are ready to apply. I will be applying and submitting my application around September 2010 as an early decision applicant for Fall 2011.

I have to finish up Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Developmental Psychology, and one more chemistry class this coming Summer 2010. During the Fall of 2010 and Spring 2011, I will be finishing up just general requirements like history, Microbiology, English Composition, Statistics, some foreign languages, and humanities (elective classes).

I will be applying for the BSN Traditional Program considering I do not have a degree, thus, I am not qualified to apply for the accelerated program. I'm really excited about this.

I will only be applying to UPenn and Johns Hopkins University for my BSN traditional program. If I do not get accepted, I will be attending my current university's school of nursing. I am already in the university's nursing program, but I don't start clinical preceptorship until 2 years from now.

I will graduate May 2013 regardless where I go. Either JHU or UPenn or stay at my current university.

If I will be accepted at either JHU or UPenn, then definitely I will be attending those schools! I love nursing research, and I want to learn more about research and providing quality care to our patients.

We will see how it will go. I have six months until I submit my application to both schools. Remember time is running fast.

Hope everyone are doing well on their pre-requisites! Good luck to all!

Feel free to post around so we can help each other for Fall 2011! I've read the thread for the JHU Fall 2010. I've noticed everyone in that thread got accepted, and some waitlisted! Its a good sign!

Have a wonderful day!

BK859,

Thanks for the tips. I'm currently working on my essays right now. ^^

Hi Jnak,

I'm currently writing my admissions essays for JHUSON and I need as much help as I can get. Can you give me an idea of what you wrote for the "Critical Thinking" essay.

-jsong001

JSong - I'm stuck on that essay too! Have you made any progress?

Also, I went to the open house this past weekend and it was great. If you all have any questions, I can try to answer. They didn't talk about the perfect GPA, GRE score or other application-specific guarantees for admission. It was basically a broad overview of the programs, financial aid, and a great opportunity to talk to faculty and students.

I'm more excited than ever to apply!

Hi Jnak,

I'm in the process of writing my application essays for JHUSON and was wondering if you would be willing to look over one of the essays I wrote? I could use the feedback and your opinion about it.^^

Hi cartwheel,

I'm currently working on the Diversity essay and still thinking about what to write for the critical thinking one. Good luck! ^^

Application and supporting docs are in! Mailed my transcripts yesterday. I'm surprised at how relieved I am to have this part done. Now the waiting begins!

I applied early decision. Is anyone else applying ED?

C.

Hey cartwheel,

I was going to apply ED but I got nervous. In addition to Hopkins I am applying to Yale and Columbia and I would like to wait to see what the financial packages look like for all three programs. I could be wrong, but from what I have read it seems like the total price tag for Hopkins is around 200K -- am I way off?

Hi Yoga -

I submitted my Columbia application a couple of weeks ago and also applied to UCSF. Hopkins is definitely my first choice though.

As far as cost goes, the handouts I picked up at JHU's open house have a total education (tuition + expenses) estimate of:

Traditional BSN = 53,298/yr

Accelerated BSN = 92,599

MSN = 45,681/yr

C.

Just scheduled my interview for 11/11 at 1pm! Most auspicious... ;)

Anyone else scheduled or had an interview yet? I'm guessing they wouldn't start interviewing until after the 11/1 deadline for ED.

C.

Hey Cartwheel! Congrats on getting your app done! Are you applying for the BSN/MSN program? I applied ED too, but just for the trad 21 month BSN program. That's so great that they got back to you so quickly and you already have an interview set up with them! So exciting :) I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed..i'm so anxious to hear back from them :) Let's hope for the best!

Hey snguy! I also applied for the traditional 21 month BSN program. I just got an email from JHUSON that they'd received my application. Now THAT alone has got me nervous! It's going to be an interesting 1.5 months! Eeeks!

Hey mamaliga! I know what you mean! :p...we're going to be on the edge of our seats for a little while. I told my bf to either be ready to congratulate me or console me when he returns on the 17th of December. I hope it is the former.

It was such a relief to finally get it in though! :D Are you planning to apply to any other schools? I'm basically just waiting for my response from JH then going on from there. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the both of us!
