Hi,
I have applied for and received an invite to interview at JHH on a pediatric unit. I figured since there are previous threads for past years I'd start a new one for 2020 hires/start dates! Lets all keep each other informed and updated through the process.
My interview is tomorrow. It’s a video interview. I’ve been rehearsing and practicing behavioral questions and situational questions. Is anyone familiar with Microsoft Teams? Do I just click on the link and it sends me to the interviewer’s room? I’m getting nervous, but also excited at the same time. I’m trying to be confident, and have thoroughly reviewed the mission and values of Johns Hopkins and nursing at Johns Hopkins. Wish me luck everyone! Also, my tie I got at target yesterday is awesome for the interview!?
Hi everyone!
I just had my interview. It went really well. Thank you all for the wonderful interview suggestions. They were really helpful. I felt like I was having a casual conversation with the manager instead of an interview. I will say, that Microsoft Teams is not the most user friendly. There was a lot of echo and static on both of our ends, so she ended up calling me on my cell phone to have the audio portion to work, with me just muting the microphone on team.
Finally, I said when she asked me what my greatest accomplishment was, I said" To be honest with you, this interview is my greatest accomplishment in life. I have worked really hard to get here working full time while in nursing school, and I feel truly humbled and proud to be interviewed at Johns Hopkins." I should know in a week if I have the job!
Look forward to meeting you guys!

Hi! So glad I found this page! I just accepted a position in the WICU and am so so excited! I'm moving from upstate NY so I'm looking forward to meeting other new grads and exploring Baltimore. I start in October, and I'll probably be looking for a roommate as well! Feel free to message me, looking forward to meeting everyone! And good luck to everyone interviewing!

Looking for advice - I am coming from a non-compact state and have applied for licensure within my state and then will be applying for endorsement in MD. If anyone has gone through the endorsement process, any information would be extremely helpful! Also, has anyone come from a non-compact state and applied for licensure directly to Maryland? Trying to decide if I want to change my application or not!

I am also coming from a non-compact state and I applied directly to the Maryland board of nursing and honestly it has been the biggest headache of my life. They have an "out of state RN approval list" for different nursing programs throughout the country and if your program is not listed on their I would tell you to apply through endorsement. I'm not sure if that will make it any easier but it is taking them forever to approve my program. Everyone else at my school has received their ATT except me because I went directly through the Maryland board. I tried to apply directly to avoid this very issue but it turns out that may have been a mistake. At this point I'm really wishing I had gone through endorsement. Again, not sure that going through endorsement will be any easier but my experience with direct application has been less than splendid. Hope that helps! Not trying to tear apart the board just super frustrated at this point!
@BLBSN26 I have a compact state license, but still need to get endorsed to practice in MD. I was starting a BON application for Maryland, but realized I need fingerprints done with the code before I am allowed to submit an application. I’m not able to get ahold of the finger printing places in baltimore either ?

Sorry to hear about your delay. What state are you from?
My program is also not on the list but I'm still in school. I'm just banking on the chance that we went to the same program and you'll be successful in paving the way for the rest of us. ?
Thanks and good luck!
@amyleong I am from NJ and my nursing program is pretty small so I doubt I'll be paving the way for you LOL you can request the board to send an application to your dean, who fills it out and sends it back too the board. I'd tell you to do it sooner rather than later as I do not know how long it will take for them to approve.

If you’re coming for a compact state there isn’t a huge rush to get the endorsement application in, especially with covid. I applied back in February and my application for Maryland is still pending.... I’m just practicing on my Virginia license and it hasn’t been an issue! If you’re worried just email nurse recruitment to confirm that this info is accurate for your situation!

@thearizonanurse I have been to Baltimore several times to visit my friends who live in Charles Village and Mount Vernon. Both are trendy areas and are safe. You take a chance with crime no matter where you go. Just a quick glance on Zillow: I see $800-$1000 apartments for those areas. Both also are close to Hopkins. Hope this helps.
