Johns Hopkins Entry into Nursing (MSN) Fall 2021

Published

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to start a thread for the Johns Hopkins Entry into Nursing MSN program for August 2021 applicants. I started my application this week, aiming to get it in well before the November 1st deadline . Anyone else??

Hmmm I’m personally not accepting my spot on the waitlist but I have a feeling that spots will open up faster than you may think. A lot of people applied to multiple schools so there’s a possibility that a lot of people might not commit! Even on this thread a decent amount of people are not committing. Just adding some positivity!

@kac1225 Thank you for that extra lightness ?

@Dem2020 I dove deep (OK, not that deep) but on the Fall 2019's page, it looks like some people heard back about waitlists some time around April 23/24.  Last two weeks have been excruciating, so this time around, hopefully, I won't be losing my mind as much ?

Thank you & congrats on your other acceptance!

For everyone wondering about their spot on the waitlist...

I’m sure every school is different, but if it helps to compare, I am on Penn’s waitlist and asked them if I could get info on where I stood on the list. Their response to me was that they don’t rank students in a number order, but rather, if a spot becomes open they have a whole second review process of all the waitlist students.

not sure what JHU’s process is but thought it couldn’t hurt to share from what I know of penns process!

That is the exact same explanation that JHU gave to me when I inquired about their waitlist back in January..

Some questions for the people because I like to plan ahead and also because I'm really excited!

1. Do we need a car? I'm coming from California so I'm wondering if its worth it figure out how to get my car to MD.

2. When exactly does the program start? (LOL I feel like I should know this)

3. How soon in advance is it recommend to find housing? Where I went to college people secured houses as early as January for the fall so wondering if I need to jump on that soon

Hiii! I’m also coming from Cali and I am also looking for housing. Please let me know is you find answers to any of these questions hehe ? I’ll also be attending the info session on Monday.

To those who have been accepted, chose to accept, and also given a scholarship, do you know what the deal is with the financial aid? Their financial aid disbursement (at least for me) WITH the scholarship doesn't get me close to where I need to be. For some reason I thought you could just borrow as much as you want as long as it fit within the costs JHU SON listed. Is this the maximum we're allowed to get a federal loan? Has anyone else found themselves way short of even tuition costs for the year? I sent an email to financial aid about this, but figured I'd ask the board too - my favorite peoples!!

it might depend on your EFC? My EFC was really low so they offered me tons of loans that would cover tuition and living expenses. No grants though ?

New to this thread because I didn’t think I’d stand a chance for JH.

I also Recieved a spot on the waitlist... does anyone know what % of students are accepted to the entry MSN program?

I don't know if they show you your financial aid disbursement after you put the deposit down or what.... but this is the email I got:

Thank you for the laughs.

Edit: I think it's actually $166,000 including $20,000 per year est. living expenses. All my rough estimations based on the 2019-2020 data they put out.
