Johns Hopkins Entry into Nursing (MSN) Spring 2021

Published

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to start a thread for the Johns Hopkins entry into nursing MSN program for January 2021 applicants. I just started my application this week, aiming to get it in well before the July 1st deadline. Anyone else?? ?

Also, if anyone previously accepted here has any application tips, please do share. Thank you!

Hi Marliellie-

re: diversity question: Thank you. I agree 100%. Re: the GRE question: I never took the GRE either despite the fact that I was in grad school before. I was actually glad when I saw that Johns Hopkins didn't require it because I don't think standardized tests measure ability because everyone is different. From what I got from the virtual open houses, website, etc is that they really look at the overall person. I mean, grades are important but they are not everything. Perhaps, it would be more beneficial to work on your essays, addendums, resume. If you need any help with your application, please don't hesitate to DM me. Wishing you the best of luck. Christina

hi! does anyone know when we would hear back if we applied after the priority deadline?

should be in about a month!

Hi everyone!

I am applying for the Fall cycle but I was curious on whether you knew how strict they are about the 300 words per essay. Since it says "approx. 300 words", I was wondering whether any of you went over and by how much.

Im at 350 right now! Thank you in advance!

Hi @Brenna Yee,

I think mine ended up being around 350-365!

Hi all! I applied to the Fall 2020 earlier this year and was waitlisted but they filled up their slots and I was informed 2 weeks ago that was not an opening for me. I reapplied for the Spring 2021 cohort and I am hoping to hear some good news this time around! I have a 3.55 GPA and a Bachelors in Health care administration. I worked at Kennedy Kreiger Institute, but it was non-clinical. I was told we should hear a decision in the second week of September. Good luck everyone!

Hi Dream Nurse

I totally get it. I applied for regular decision Fall 2020 start but I did not get in or get waitlisted. So, I applied again for Spring 2021 early decision. I made some adjustments in my application so hopefully that will make a difference. Good luck to everyone!!

I do not believe they're extremely strick on the words. NursingCAS is 100% strick on the character count. It's possible to be over the three hundred words, but not the character count. You can see the character in the lower right corner of the essay submission box

Waiting for the Admission decision is eating me up.  Checking email every 10 minutes and already feeling defeated!

Have you heard anything back yet? I applied by the July 1st deadline as well and haven’t heard anything back yet...been on pins and needles all day ?

Me too!  I was told if we applied by the 7/1 deadline that we’ll hear back the second week of September.  I’m so anxious!

No I haven't heard anything and very anxious as well.  But they said its the end of this week and next week.  So stay tune!
