Johns Hopkins Entry into Nursing (MSN) Spring 2021

Published

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to start a thread for the Johns Hopkins entry into nursing MSN program for January 2021 applicants. I just started my application this week, aiming to get it in well before the July 1st deadline. Anyone else?? ?

Also, if anyone previously accepted here has any application tips, please do share. Thank you!

This is going to sound so weird but what time did you receive your email? I just need to know when I should expect the delivery (if it comes today)

Mine came at 6pm -super weird and unexpected especially bc I live in California so that is like 9pm for them? (correct me if I'm wrong LOL)

Do you mind sharing your stats? I was denied for the last round but I’ve since finished all the prereqs and I’m wondering if my stats are good enough to apply again by the October deadline or if I should just bag it haha

I have a 2.99 undergraduate GPA so I was expecting to be denied as well... however since then I retook some courses and almost all my prereqs are As now! I hope this helps but I would keep trying! especially because they look at applicants from a holistic approach I believe. ☺️

It is!! Okay- maybe they were sending stuff after the meeting. Fingers crossed for everyone today

Does anyone happen to know anything about the waitlist for the program? Like roughly how many students are placed on the list?

Yes same here, I was offered a waitlist spot yesterday.  Feeling hopeful and hopeless at the same time.  Seems like JHU admitted more students than available seats and I don't think many waitlisted people have much chance of getting in.  Good luck to us waiting ? (still have hope).  Just curious, if we apply again for the next term, will we get a better chance of admission since we were waitlisted in the previous cycle?

I was placed on the waitlist for Fall 2020 but was eventually denied- there's no telling how many candidates are in the waitlists or what number you're in on the list. It's truly a waiting game but fortunately for JHU, you get the opportunity to apply to the next semester while you do wait (because some programs do not allow that).

Oh thats great! I was thinking if I resubmitted my application it might mess up my spot on the waitlist! thanks for the info I will look into it more now!

@FuturePNP18 did you get admitted this time?

Haven't gotten a response yet. It's super nerve-wracking cause when  applying the first time its "yeah I'm nervous" but when your applying to the same program for the second time, the admissions team kinda gets to know your name for the number of times your register for online sessions or ask questions- its a sense of "this is my program, just let me in dammit"

Its just fingers crossed at this point ?

Thanks! Yeah my undergrad GPA is more of a doozy than yours ? My prereq GPA is 4.0 though. All As. And I have a decent amount of experience, and I’m a pretty strong writer. I feel like that undergrad GPA is gonna follow me all my life ?

Yes same here, my undergraduate GPA was terrible, and then I decided to improve my GPA by getting an MS program in biochemistry.  Just trying to show them I'm a capable student and all I need is a chance ?

I’m wishing you all luck who are still waiting for emails. it’s gonna be okay guys!! just breathe! last year I was denied from every program I applied to, I didn’t expect to get in here this yr. I also have a C on my transcript. there’s always hope ???
