Hi Everyone,
I wanted to start a thread for the Johns Hopkins entry into nursing MSN program for January 2021 applicants. I just started my application this week, aiming to get it in well before the July 1st deadline. Anyone else?? ?
Also, if anyone previously accepted here has any application tips, please do share. Thank you!
@GuyNursegh I’m in the same boat as you, I haven’t heard back yet either ? My application was complete on July 1st, so in the later portion of the cycle. Nervous now that I didn’t get it in, but also trying to recognize that they send out decisions in batches, and even if I didn’t get in, I can still reapply. Just need to know, the waiting is the worst part ?

I know right, same I applied July 1st. I’m getting discouraged.

I cannot compare what JHU offers vs UM. I do know JHU does offer quite a bit to help students succeed. That said, you still have to do the work.
As for Spring, I think a lot is going to depend on what's going on with COVID. JHU right now is all theory classes are online. Till Thanksgiving break, clinicals are in-person, labs alternate between in-person and virtual. I'm going to assume UM is probably doing something similar since they're in the same city and using hospitals in the same city. Remember, the schools are assuming people are going home and using public transportation to do it, which means two weeks isolation when they return. This would leave around one week before finals. I've heard other schools doing similar that are dealing with significant second waves of COVID. Welcome to nursing school during COVID.

Thank you. I have admission to another school that I need to complete their required medical screenings. I really was hoping to hear from JHU before I go ahead and complete the screenings. But if I hear from them or not, I think I will be good... I just want to know.

I understand and was in a similar situation. My suggestion is to keep going with the other school till you hear and decide otherwise. You can always give up the spot at the other school for JHU. If you do get the chance to come to JHU and decide to, hopefully, you're able to give enough time for someone else to use to the spot.
I say this because getting into nursing school is very difficult and there are a number who struggle to do so; some do not. Thus, it's about making sure YOU a nursing school to attend. It may not be the "dream" school but it will get you the education.

Right on. Thanks a lot.
Y’all are awesome. @botmann thanks for the comforting words. JHU is the dream, but I’ve also only applied to JHU thus far, and am in the early part of the nursing school application process (just graduated from undergrad in April). We’ll see what happens. Congratulations to everyone who was offered admission! ?

@botmann Thank you for this information! I believe that UMSON also goes through the Summer so in that aspect the programs are about the same. I will be entering one of the programs directly from my undergraduate school so I am not planning on working during the programs (even though that would've been great).
