Hi Everyone,
I wanted to start a thread for the Johns Hopkins entry into nursing MSN program for January 2021 applicants. I just started my application this week, aiming to get it in well before the July 1st deadline. Anyone else?? ?
Also, if anyone previously accepted here has any application tips, please do share. Thank you!

Heres my stats to make people feel better LOL:
Major: Biomedical Sciences, 80 science credits/graduated a semester early (Dec2019)
cGPA: 3.39 sGPA: 3.14 (yikes)PCE: 800 as respite care provider (tracheostomy care, catheterizations, administering meds, just got lucky after graduation and didn’t need a nursing degree)
300 medical scribe, 200 phlebotomist
volunteer: about 420 hours
obviously my GPA is lacking, but I’m hoping they consider a major directly related to the field and current experience. With all that good luck everyone!

These are my stats above and I was accepted!
Hi all! CONGRATS to everyone. I was also accepted with a scholarship! I am facing a hard decision because UMSON will be significantly less expensive for me to attend. I wish that money did not have to be a factor.
Here are my stats:
3.96 undergrad GPA
4.0 prerequisites GPA
1000+ volunteer hours
Teacher's assistant for 3 years
medical translator for 2 years

Same here! Money is a huge factor but I wish it didn’t have to be. Any other factors anyone is looking at to help make a decision?
Just now, Pablohoney said:There is no doubt that either program will result in you becoming a well-prepared, competent nurse if you work hard. The UMSON is a CNL, is that correct?
I agree both programs seem great! Yes it is, you get a MSN with a cert as a CNL I would grad in Dec 2022 with UM but August 2022 with JHU as you know they do not offer the CNL cert

Is the JHU program shorter than the UMSON program? I am trying to weigh every single factor haha
@Nursewannabe1 Are you leaning towards going to one school over the other? I feel like we are facing a similar decision right now so I am taking any advice I can get!

It’s so tough I’m leaning towards UM mainly because of costs but besides that I’m really indecisive I’ve heard great things about both schools. Are u leaning more towards one school more?

I think I am also leaning towards UMSON because of the money. Hopkins would be 60k more and its just hard to justify that for me. Hopkins is so amazing though and they definitely have a more developed program.
It's great some of you have more than option on where to attend; some may get an offer to go anywhere. I was in neither.
I'm not familiar with UM. I can tell you JHU's program is five semesters, which includes a Summer term, which could be the difference. Could give a Summer to work and earn some mone. Then again, it would only be about three months, which may not be much.
As for the decision, I would look at the opportunities you want to create for yourself and which program you feel gives you the best chance to do so. Yes the rankings for JHU are very impressive. If you plan to work mainly at bedside, the patient does not care where you went. If you want to get into teaching, academics, or get more advance training, the name MIGHT make a difference. The good and bad of them, they're both in Baltimore, which has all the pros and cons of a major city.

I was offered a scholarship with my acceptance letter, yes. I believe all of those considerations happened concurrently during the review process.
