job offer with no written pay documentation

Published

hi everyone...

1. is it possible to get a job offer at an agency (maxim health care) and when i asked about salary scale and written documentation for the pay......for assignments in flu clinics/ school nurse/hospital...his answer everything all depends on facility...and i asked nothing in writing..he said ...no...we just tell you on the phone how much you are gonna be getting and if you accept it...you can go..

school nurse - 18 dollars/hr

flu clinic - 20 or mid 20s /hr

hospital - 29dollars/hr

2. the staff are all male and good looking football players who are doing nurse recruitment and not nurses

3. havent spoke to any nurse in the office except for all the office staff who have health care degrees

any advice appreciated...felt like wasting my time/gas /and i am almost done on taking their on line exams that is taking me a whole day to finish for nothing...

4. i dont like this invisible job pay scale bec they can say i never said that in the end...

5. i am with other agency too but it is not this complicated....

God help me..thanks everyone...

If I were you, I would.... run. Like crazy. Too many jobs out there to deal with that sort of nonsense!

Specializes in Mother-Baby, Rehab, Hospice, Memory Care.

I worked a very short time for Maxim after I moved and was transitioning jobs. They are by far one of the lowest paying agencies in my area. However, they hooked me by telling me they had a temporary hospital assignment available in my preferred area. It never came about... I was always under the impression that agency nurses are getting paid a premium rate. I was being paid less than I was as a new grad! Definitely not worth it... I got a full time job right ASAP. I would look elsewhere if I were you.

yeah...i dont wish to live in a cardboard box either with such low pay and no nursing support in the office...i mean really...

Specializes in CCU MICU Rapid Response.

Was going to Maxim to work corrections as an RN. same thing, no definitive pay, no definitive hours or shifts even. Faxed and refaxed and mailed my life away.

Im agree with you on the staffing in the office... Im pretty sure they were undergrad business folk, Im certain that they aren't nurses.

After the fourth week of doing everything they asked and still being in the dark, I gave up... slightly bald from pulling all of my hair out.

Find other options and don't go with Maxim unless you are desperate. There is sufficient negative feedback on this site concerning Maxim to warn you that this is not a good employer.

I would run as fast as possible from this agency. I am getting a bad vibe just reading about it.

Specializes in ICU of all kinds, CVICU, Cath Lab, ER..

First: remember this - they (the boys/agency owner) make their money off your back...you work - they get paid too!

Secondly: always, always, always get it in writing - even if it is an email for a particular job - get it in writing...saves you from a lot of grief.

I learned my lesson the hard way - you can learn it from my experience. God bless, good luck!

i told them i aint taking the job offer and BOY where they angry.....i had to hang up the phone...

anybody volunteering to work with an invisible salary?

They told me in the beginning that all people in the same category got paid the same. When I went to them to ask why they were paying another nurse $4 an hour more to work the same case as me, I got told a BS answer which did not apply and which did not explain the lies. Lies all the way around if you are not astute enough to pick up on them.

They were trying to guilt you weren't they?

Specializes in ER, OR, PACU, TELE, CATH LAB, OPEN HEART.

I am NOT familiar with Maxim and their practices.

However, in general agency rates are based on the facility and speciality and can vary widely. I get anywhere from $34.50 to $49/hour for Tele, ER. OR, PACU, Cath Lab, Occupational Health, Endoscopy in Baltimore on days. I work for 3 agencies, no one puts salary in writing unless on a contract assignment and they ALWAYS pay the verbal quote.

Agency PRN is always slow Mid Nov to Mid Jan. This has been a tough year wtih the economy tanking. Hang in there. I'm glad you have a PT position also. I have been looking for Permanent work since Sept 2008, apply, few interviews, even fewer follow-ups from HR and when you call one excuse after another. I started a new permanent position yesterday.

Hang in there you will find something. What area are you in, which specialties?
