I am a soon-to-be new grad (June). I shadowed and interveiwed at a hospital a few weeks ago.
The nurse manager called me on Thursday and offered me a full time position and said HR would call with the formal offer Monday or Tuesday.
Well, it is now Wednesday evening with no call. This is a large busy hospital. I REALLY dont want to fall through the cracks as jobs for new grads are very scorifice in this area.
How long do I wait? Friday? Next week? Do I call the nurse manager or HR?
I know it is a while until I start, I just dont want to lose this one-- it is the ER which I want VERY much! But I dont want to be pushy.
Well, I guess I am going against the general consensus LOL.. I would first call HR and let them know you had expected to hear from them and find out any information you need (including they may have not gotten the NM information on hire yet).. then call the NM and let her know just a general information i.e. that HR is waiting for the paper work (or whatever they say), that you are very excited and hope to hear from them soon. IMO it shows the NM you are good at attempting to work things out on your own.
I wouldrather do another year of nursing school then hunt for a job. This stresses me out!
I know exactly what you mean! Job hunting is the worst especially when you worked so hard for so long thinking you would have a job before graduation. You will probably get an answer when you follow up.

i would let the nurse manager know asap that you haven't heard from HR yet.
