JJC Spring 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Hi all! I'm applying right now for the Spring 2017 class at Joliet Junior College and wanted to see what everyone is scoring on the TEAS?!

Thank you! Good luck to you as well! I have everything crossed because I know it's a long shot for me.

I applied for spring 2017 at JJC also. I got a 73 on the teas with a 77 in science. I only have one pre req done with a 4.0 but the advisor said that would be what they use to calculate admittance??? Doesn't sound quite right but that is what I was told. I"m so nervous. I studied my butt off for that test! Anyone else want to share? Does anyone know the # of applicants?

Hey BCE2802, congrats on your Teas V and science score! As far as I'm concerned the advisor told me the same thing, she stated that the GPA will be calculated on the Pre-reqs with nothing else and will be counted as 10%. You also get up to 10% for having all the pre-reqs done. So you probably scored a 10% on GPA, but as far as the 10% awarded for having all the pre-reqs completed I'm not to sure. A few other members on this thread are also wondering about the number of applicants, once the application process closes then we are allowed to ask how many qualified applicants are in the running! Best of luck to you!! :)

Thanks so much for the info. Best of luck to you and everyone on this thread!

I just left JJC after speaking with a nursing advisor (Misty Ludwig), and she said that they haven't received the number of applicants that applied yet, but she did say about halfway through the application period there were 109 applicants so she said she would guess a little over 200 have applied. She said she would guess around 2 weeks from now is when we will get emails to sign up to write the essay (for those under an 80 Teas score) and that the essay would take place around the end of July, and thennnn around mid to end of August we find out if we got in the program or not. She also said my 67 teas score is good enough to get in, but not having Bio 250 and 251 done yet would be what would probably hurt my chances. But she said write a good essay and you never know! Good luck everyone!

Thanks for the info! So we won't know until August?! Ugh, seems so far away!!

That's what she said :/ and she said the next application period (Feb 1-15) the requirements are going to be different. You will now only need a 76 on the Teas for guarantee admittance instead of an 80. So that's good news for anyone who doesn't get accepted this time around!

August seems a long way away. I guess we should just try and enjoy the summer until then. I'm curious about the Bio 250 and 251. Did the advisor reference those classes just as incomplete prereqs or did she say not having those two in particular would be what hurts your chances? I'm parsing every comment and word because I also don't have most of the prereqs finished either. Im taking Bio 250 during the second summer session but I know that won't help me for this application period. Also, do you happen to know if we will have to retake the TEAS for the next application period(Feb)?. I know there will be a new version (TEAS 6) and the nursing department will also change the requirements a bit. Ugh, the idea of taking that test again is terrible. In fact, I took it a second time on June 13th thinking I could raise my score a few points and I actually scored WORSE than my original 73. Hopefully we can get more people to join the thread. Im really trying to figure out where I might stand by comparison. Good luck again everyone!

Bio 250 and 251 are both used when calculating your GPA for the program along with Eng 101, Psych 101, Psych 215, & Heal 109. Those classes combined make up the GPA that they look at. So not having Bio 250 & 251 done yet, it hurts your chances of getting in. BUT she said if you have a decent TEAS score and write a good essay, you never know what could happen. If you don't get in this time around and you apply for the next application period in February, yes she said you will have to take the new TEAS test (TEAS 6). TEAS 5 scores will not be accepted. September 1st is when the TEAS 6 test will be available to take. She said the only difference between the TEAS 5 & the TEAS 6 is that the 6 took out some of the English/Grammar section and added more Math. And for the February application period, the new guaranteed admittance score for the TEAS is 76 (instead of 80). August seems so far away!!! Ugh.

Thanks for the info once again!

Did any one receive any emails yet? I've been checking everyday. I know it's to soon for them to be out, but I figured I'd ask!
