Jefferson FACT 2012

Published

Hello all!

I am so glad I was directed to this discussion forum. I believe it is a great place to share and learn. I am extremely interested in Jefferson's FACT program. I plan to apply for May 2012. I just wanted to reach out to anyone with similar interest and your thoughts on the process. I would like to know who else plans to apply for May 2012 and if your pre-req's have been completed.

Just to share a little about myself, I am completing my BS in Public Health at an online University (3 weeks left!) and have all the pre-req's completed. I am just excited about this next journey.

I also love how Jefferson FACT students automatically are accepted into the MSN program. My goal is to become a Women's Health NP, and Jefferson seems to be the way to go.

I would also love to hear from current students as well.

Thank you!! It is tomorrow!!! Yikes. I'm not as nervous as I thought I'd be.

Is anybody else who had to send in additional coursework from the fall semester waiting forever for NursingCAS to receive their transcript? My school sent it out on the 22nd and they have yet to post anything stating that they've received it. Also, does anyone know if we have to pay yet again to have NursingCAS send the information to Jeff? The website left me under the impression that I would have to pay another fee, which I think is ridiculous! Any input would be much appreciated! :)

Hey lmnovak,

It does take awhile for NursingCas to process the transcripts to show that they have been received. I would give them at least 3 weeks (probably 4 considering the holidays). You can always call NursingCas to get a timeframe and to see if they have received the transcript. They have always been nice and helpful to me. Also, they still have to check your transcripts against what you entered as coursework which takes time. Jefferson requires a supplemental application, and I think it was $25.00. They will send you an email invite when they're ready to accept that from you.

Application fees are normal for any university to which you apply... My undergrad charged $55. Perhaps aggravating, but predictable. Upenn would charge you $75.00 for their program, too. Drexel's might be waived in some circumstances, but weighing the application fees against the number of prerequisites Drexel requires heavily favored TJU, in my case.

Thanks, shhr! I've already paid the the initial application fees; however, once TJU reviewed my app they wanted to see my fall semester grades before they made a decision. A had to send another transcript and am under the impression that I have to pay the NursingCAS fee AGAIN. No biggie, I just wasn't sure if anyone had a definite answer.

I am 95% sure you won't have to pay another $45. I have to send more transcripts in, too, and was not charged for another review.

I'm sure this question has been answered a number of times in this chain, but...

just so i have the steps right....i fill out the NursingCas application, in the meantime I have all my schools send transcripts to NursingCAS, I apply, and then Jefferson sends a secondary app?

Do I need to wait until the transcripts have reached NursingCAS before actually submitting it? My GPA calculation is also not complete. Does that come after I have submitted and after they receive my transcripts?

Thank you!

Amy,

Once your NursingCAS application is complete, it will take some time for transcripts to get there and your GPA calculated, in my case it was around a month. When all that process is done, it will "show up" in the Jefferson system as available for download and they will send you the email with the Secondary Application..... then they will review it and they will contact you if they have questions or need more info, or if everything is OK you will get an email for an interview. It is long, but worth it, sending you good vibes!

Thanks so much Miren!

Hi everyone.....just wanted to check with those who have been able to access the student website with their key. When you went to the school's email (Jeffmail I think), did the email account come up as your student key as the account name? My understanding is that our email addresses should be first name. last name then "@jefferson edu". Anyone know anything about this?

Mitch,

Your username or campus key is the one that they gave you, it should be something like the first letter of your first name, first letter of middle name (or "x" if you don't have one) and the first letter of your last name and then some numbers. Does that help you?

Miren
