Jeff State Fall 2010 hopefuls...

Published

I will go ahead and start this post for people applying to Jeff State Nursing Program Fall 2010. I know there are people out there with questions...I know I have a ton myself...I guess we can start with the amounts of points people are applying with with what classes??This should give us an idea of maybe where the cutoff will be...it was like 186 for Summer 2010!

That sounds like a great conclusion to me...not much time for people to get their ducks in a row...haha...oh well...I am hoping that we all get in!

LOL! At this point I would take a letter today saying I was in and orientation was tomorrow....the heck with those ducks. LOL!! I hope we all get good news soon.

just wonder if any of you have a plan B, just in case.

for me, i'm applying to lawson state's cna program. If i'm able to i will also try to take micro, and perhaps speech. these are the only non-nursing courses i have left to take.

i read on this board, that after completing your first semester in the nursing program, you can take the cna certification exam. so wether or not i get in the nursing program this fall, my goal for the next semester is to get my cna certification, so i can work in the nursing field while in nursing school.

I'm taking Micro now, its the only class left that I needed to take. I've been thinking about a plan B just in case but i'm really not sure, I think that I may apply to either Bevill State or Shelton State. The cna certification sounds like a good plan.

how is micro? i've heard it can be a nightmare.

ap1 was great, because i had a great professor, ap2 was torture because the instructor was terrible.

just wondering how that class is going for you.

Micro is a nightmare!!! It is very difficult and so much more material to cover in such a short period of time. I do not recommend taking it during the summer, however i seem to be doing okay in the class. My a&p instructors were great i had the same instructor for both.

So... whether we get accepted/rejected, will we still get a letter from the school... or is no news bad news?

You will get a letter letting you know either way. Hopefully the letter will contain good news for you! As for me, I haven't a plan B. The only class I have left to take is the developmental psych. I considered taking it this summer, then decided I needed a break. I took Micro this past semester and it was a tough semester for me. I will probably take the psych class in the fall if I don't get in this go....and maybe apply somewhere else for the spring term. I'm trying not to think about it too hard right now. I'm just waiting for the letter. I will begin thinking about what to do next once the letters are in hand.

Yeah I have to say I'm trying not to stress about it too much myself.

Exactly. Lots of time for stress later. :)

hi, in case you guys are need of summer reading that has to do with being a nurse, i created a list of books i've read about being a nurse. ( the link is below)

in every case (except for "emergency"--there were md stories included), they were written by nurses about their real life experiences in the profession. i've read more of these type books, but these are the ones that are really great.

one that i forgot to add, is titled "baby-catcher." it is the story of a nurse turned midwife. i read it 6 years ago and loaned it to everyone in my office, everyone loved it.

Amazon.com: nurse's stories

if any one knows of any other great books about being a nurse, i love to hear about them.

I got the same email today about them waiting for the info. to come in about a cutoff score so that they coukd send out the letters. Sorry friends, I tried to get us some info!haha....can we get a points total for everyone writing on this board?just out of interest...I know a few but not all...
