I will go ahead and start this post for people applying to Jeff State Nursing Program Fall 2010. I know there are people out there with questions...I know I have a ton myself...I guess we can start with the amounts of points people are applying with with what classes??This should give us an idea of maybe where the cutoff will be...it was like 186 for Summer 2010!
HAHA! Exactly! I didn't think it took a brain surgeon to handle the applications and get letters out in a timely fashion. When they said 4 - 6 weeks I truly believed that was more than enough time to get the job done. Apparently I was wrong. I am starting to get irritated with the situation and knowing there isn't anything I can do to speed it up makes it even more frustrating. Knowing the points would help me relax at least a little bit.......
Yes, I got an email from her responding to one I sent 2 weeks ago. All she said was I would get a letter in July. It would have been nice to know when so I sent a reply asking if she could say if it would be early, mid or late July and if she could include a cutoff score. Naturally I haven't heard anything back..... If I find anything out I will let you know....keep me posted!
The advisor did say that about 700 people applied between both campuses and the part time program, but half of the applications were incomplete or they didn't have the minimum reqs (lower than 2.5 or no transcripts). She said she expects the cutoff to be around 187 or so. It'll be like a week from Monday before people get their letters.
Hmmmm, did you physically speak with an advisor? I had an email from one of the nursing advisors on Friday that said the cutoff points had not been determined yet so she wasn't sure when in July the letters would go out. She said once the cutoff was determined the letters would go out. I'm past ready for the waiting to end!!!!
QUESTION: Today I heard a rumor that Jeff State may be put on probation because of their high failure rate.....has anyone else heard this???? This came to me from someone else who is applying to their nursing program for this fall. I have only heard it from one person so I'm not sure how true it is. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this.
As for where I got the information about the cutoff...it did come from an advisor...I am guessing that she was just making an estimate based on looking at all the apps for so long. As for the probation thing, I am pretty sure that they are under review. I got that info from a person who is second semester at Jeff St.

I mean you would think it was an overly complicated process...I talked to them 1 week after they received the apps and they had been through them once...the next week they probably went through them again...they throw the people out that didn't meet the minimum (2.5 gpa or lower, not enrolled, no transcripts), they go through them a third time on week 4 and score everyone, send them in scored order by program to the nursing school people, the dean sets the cutoff for each program according to spots and they send the letter out during week 5...I couldn't imagine them having to do more than that...it is RN school...I mean...I'm extremely excited about going and its a great school...but its not like they're scoring us for Yale School of Medicine...
